Loctite 243?

Any reason why you specifically want Loctite Blue brand thread locker? Crappy Tire doesn't stock Loctite, anymore, but they do have Permatex 'medium strength' blue thread locker. I'm looking at a tube of the gel, right now. It's used for the same purpose; locking parts that commonly require disassembly.

*EDIT* If you really must have Loctite, then Rona has it: http://www.rona.ca/shop/~threadlocker-loctite-468281_!thread-lock_shop

I'm under the impression that "blue Loctite" is Loctite 242, not 243, and if that's the case it might be why you can't find it. Sure about the number? What is it (description) that you are looking for?

I think the difference between the two is the resistance to oil (you have to be more careful with cleaning threads with 242 than 243)

243 is new, the difference between it and 242 is the oil resistance. I just picked a 10ml bottle of 242 and 243 from KBC tools in mississauga. Ive noticed the 243 is a little darker in color and thicker too, so far I like it

KTM's manual requires it for the camshaft bolt. Considering I am installing a new camshaft can I just use 242?

I think you'll be ok if you clean the bolts very well before applying the 242, but it is available at KBC in 10ml bottles. Only problem is the have a $20 minimum purchase policy...Thats actually why I bought it in the first place, I needed a $5 tap and had to buy something else

You can use 242 the same way you always have. It hasn't changed. Just hit the threads with parts cleaner then dry them off before putting the loctite on and installing them - as has always been standard practice. If you can get the 243, it sounds like a good product. My little bottle of 242 is almost empty, I'll have to check for the 243 somewhere.
