LF: Alpinestars S-MX 2 Boots sole replacement in Canada

Does anyone in Canada offers sole replacement for Alpinestars boots? I didn't want to order the sole inserts and than screw around with trying to heat the old sole off and glue on the new one. Wanted to get it all done in one place.

Actually, I'm looking at Dainese Dyno at the same time. It's just that the alpinestars are in perfect condition other than the soles.

When I bought my S-MX, I wore them once to teach in July. By the morning break, I was already concerned about the wear on the soles from the hot asphalt. At lunch I went and bought a pair of workboots.
Since then, I've had just the heels replaced at a shoe repair place. He did a pretty good job of slicing off what was there and and attaching heel that looks and feels like it belongs. I don't wear them if I'm going to be walking more than I'm riding, and they've lasted several years. I've had to replace the velcro, and and it's probably ready again, but now I'm thinking of a different boot as well - perhaps the waterproof version. They've been very comfortable boots.

So i love the boots, but I haven't found anyone to put an Alpinestars sole on either, so I'm at the point of considering new boots.

I've done this with my Sidi Vertigo's after the soles wore out but the boot was still good. I I ordered the replacement soles online (Amazon.com, $25.00) and just had a local shoe repair guy install them.

The labour cost $30

I don't mean to start a new thread, but in regards to a shoe repair shop, that is another problem, at least for me. I haven't been able to find a shoemaker that is reasonable in price. Does anyone know of a cheap shoe repair shop?

I paid $30 at Yonge and Sheppard. Seemed reasonable to me.

I imagine you can just try doing it yourself with Goop and some clamps

Actually, I've sent my wife to drop off my alpinestars to the guy at Yonge and Sheppard and he messed up the job. When he tried using the glue that came from Alpinestars, he said that it was crap and did not work, so he used his own glue and at the end the glue was visible all around and on the first ride they started to come apart. I ended up using some contact cement myself to fix what he started and at this point they seem OK, but still kind of ugly looking from the left over glue. This one the first and last time for me. Just a heads up for anyone wanting to glue new soles at Yonge and Sheppard.

weird. mine were fine. did you tell him his glue job failed?

He offered to stitch them after the alpinestars glue did not work for him, but I declined as the cost was not worth it and it didn't make sense to do that as the soles are replaceable. He basically said that if they come apart, I don't guarantee anything and that was the end of the conversation.

Try your local church.
