Yes it is certainly possible for an out-of-control bike to go towards spectators, or camper trailers, trucks, atvs, etc.

My bike ghost rode after I high sided round one, so yes I'm fully aware a bike will go any where it wants.
Let's not start building concrete berms everywhere where there could be another solution.
 
Ken sent me quite a detailed email in reply. The gist of it is that the issue is not his to address - it is something we would need to raise with the track ownership, and he gave me their contact info. He feels the danger is fairly minimal because tankslappers are very unlikely when you are off the power. More likely event according to Ken is that two bikes come together off a start and one goes left, but even then he thinks it would end up past pit exit, not before. Basically, his life would be easier with no spectators at all, but in the end crowd control and crowd safety are the responsibility of the track ownership - he only gets involved where he feels racer safety is at risk.
