Leather vest - do’s and dont’s ???

So I’m thinking about getting a leather vest, to wear over my plaid jacket I have. Cooler days will add some warmth and well it’ll also add more protection as well. All though I have heard people saying not to have club patches and this and that kind of thing, I mean heck I’d love to have a SOA vest and wear and use it but I’m worried I may cause issues from what I have heard and read on line, I love the show and think the vest’s are nice.

Is their really do’s and dont’s when it comes to leather vest or cuts as people call them ??

Not my thing at all but I've seen lots of vests around. Huge faux-pas would be to use patches that could be confused for biker gangs. SOA would be fine (although probably copyright infringement). There are many cruiser clubs that wear patched vests with their club name and rank.

As for protection, I give that very little weight. It will only help a bit in a few very specific situations. In most crashes, the vest will move out of the way and your skin will take one for the team.

Well I have seen SOA vest for sale on line to purchase, and well I only would wear the vest when riding and having my jacket on as well. I have a plaid style jacket with armour in the back and elbow and shoulders. Just always liked the looks of a MC leather vest with plaid jackets

I have a half leather vest. Keeps my core warm on those cooler days. Just plain black

Maybe keep the SoA stuff off

I am just going to be blunt.
If you run a vest with a SOA crest on it, you are going to be mocked.
You are not a 'biker', you will just embarrass yourself.

Wear the unbranded vest if you like the look, or maybe buy the gear that does what you need.

Don't.

The only vest worth wearing for warmth is a heated vest.

And for protection, you get more from a varsity jacket with the leather arms where you're most likely to drag on the pavement when you fall.

If it's just for fashion, that's different and you should just do whatever speaks to your sense of style.

LOL, now I really want to wear one to the next Burger Night! Or better yet, the next off-season get together!

There used to be a patched club called Santa's Choice - maybe 8-10 members.
To become a member you had to have been paid to play Santa Claus sometime or other.
When a real bonafide Satan's Choice saw a couple of them wearing similar colors to his he couldn't stop laughing. He took it to the executive who thought it was hilarious, and they allowed it.

Wear what you want when you ride, that's your choice.
If you fear being mocked or confronted by it, you're probably correct.
