Leather gloves got wet and now are hard and shrunk???

Hey,

So I got caught in a thunderstorm coming home from muskoka on Saturday and my leather gloves were soaked.
I wrapped them in a towel overnight then left them on each side for the next days to dry out.
Problem is now they are hard and have shrunk a little?
What is the best way to fix this?
Should I just ride in them til they strect out again or is there a moisturizer you guys use?

I use Danier's leather conditioner. I'm not sure if it really helps, but it does make the leather a bit softer. As to the shrinkage, you'll have to wear them until you break them in again. There's no way around that.
 
Yup, good conditioner and wear them back into shape. You could also go to a good shoe repair shop and ask for shoe stretch solution. It's used to rehabitate shoes thjat have gotten wet and shrunk, but with shoes you can use shoe trees to stretch them, gloves you have to wear.

My problem is they fit perfect before the 3hrs in a thunderstorm. Problem is the thumb is so tight I can only get it in halfway?
I'll try some conditioner and just suck it up ona long drive and hopefully that will work.

I was recommended the Fiebings Aussie Leather Conditioner by a member here which I used on my leather boots and it worked wonders in helping the leather stretch out and recondition the dry parts. If your gloves are smooth leather then it should do quite well. A little goes a long way.
 
Your going to have to re wet them and wear them, to get your thumb back in.
 
Any saddle soap (found in tack shops) can help with this as well. It cleans and keeps items supple for use, frequently found in any horse barn. Usually very cheap as well. Similar to Lexol.
