Mission Cycle is offering remaining 2013 duke 690 at $8599 vs msrp of $9999. Anyone ridden one? What did you think?
I'm still trying to figure out if I think it's ugly or not?!?

I have one and it is a total blast to ride. If you do long highway miles probably not the best but twistys, commuting, blasting around it is hard to beat. That is a great price too!

Ugly or not (subjective as always), it's a great bike for non-highway shorter blasts. If you want one you will never pay less than $8500 ... it's not a demo is it?

No, they actually have a few remaining 2013 at that price. I just checked Kijiji, there's a dealer in Toronto selling the same bike new as well, $10625. Holy crap!

Super fun bike with a surprising amount of torque.
One fellow was rocking one at Grand Bend this summer on one of the tighter configurations and was smoking 600's all day long.
Apparently they're not so much fun for longer highway speeds due to lack of wind protection and the vibration in your "boys."

10K + fees is normal rate, so I am surprised there's someone letting them go at $8600.

I looked at the duke but for the same cost you can get a new Yamaha FZ-09. Again don't expect to do long highway rides but will be great in the twistys!

It's a good bike, but it will not be better in the twisty stuff .... FZ is more universal no question about that, but comes with troubled EFI fueling issues for now and subpar suspension. The KTM is well sorted from ride ability and handling point of view.

It's a matter of preference. For 8600 this time year ago, I'd have pulled a trigger on the Duke. sadly, no price like that back then.

OH Man!!!!

Thats the bike Im thinking of later in the summer.

Im not ready for it yet (ability wise).

Are these the new ones with ABS?

I've ridden one, whole bike feels like a dirt bike with street tires (a bit exaggerating), the foot rear brake is the spiky type, not the flat rubber like on sport bikes. Seat is tall and upright, good for taller riders. Didn't like it, I'm a sport bike rider. Not used to seating position and without a windscreen. Bike itself looks quite cool!

Yes, they new 2013 models, deal is on until June 30, or until they run out I assume...

I didn't find the seat tall at all ... I am average 5'10 and was flat footing it solidly (you must be much shorter). I know a few people who could not take the upright seating position and it's mostly like yourself someone with being used to front loaded position off SS bikes for looong time. I have both and find it quite fun hopping from one to another .... :-)

Hmmm ... maybe I can walk in stack of cash on Jun 28 and get a really good deal ... LOL

Thanks for the info! I was looking at getting a FZ-09 this year. Looks like I need to look further into it some more.

Was in at mission cycle today, they sold 2 last week. Still have two on the floor, msrp on the tag says $10799. They also have a bunch of new 1190 and 1190r.

I looked at/sat on one the other day at GP. Rather disappointed in the suspension, or lack thereof. Kind of uncharacteristic for KTM.

It is actually a rather small bike too. One of the only KTMs I can firmly plant my feet on the ground.

It is a street bike, they always feel small to a Wudzrydr. I want the 1190r so bad I can taste it.

I couldn't flatfoot a sportbike to save my life. (Not that it really matters to me. I have a tall seat on my 250.lol) The Duke is small. Distance from seat to bars is short as well as from seat to ground. Felt very beginner bikeish. I was hoping it would be like a motard and have an adjustable suspension.

I was wondering how they could sell the Duke with it's fancy bodywork for cheaper than the offroad version. Now I know. Pity, It was on my short list for my next street bike and I was itching for a drive to Angus.
