Knee protection

I've slowly been improving my riding protection as I age and the improved gloves have settled that angst. More than I need but....any crash at 78 will likely mean the end of my riding.
Now my concern is with the knee protection in the riding pants which really does not appear to protect in the case of a come off as it and the knee are not connected to the protection.

Bought these for the eBike but gonna try them today under the AIrGlides and leave the C2 armour in the riding pants...then there is some protection right on the knee as well as the impact protection the CE armour offers. It's so thin it always amazes me when the guy in the video hit's it with a hammer.
Since my rides are often limited to an hour should be okay for heat and my pants are roomy thanks to weight loss.

But left them in Canada for reasons unknown....guy has a set for sale for $20 .... might grab those.
Anyone else use separate knee protection?

After this, having new helmet and gloves, I think my aging jacket ( the Joe Rocket is at least 40 years old tho I've replaced the armour) needs some thought.
I got decent coin for my son's Scott jacket and would like something cooler with some quality. The Joe Rocket mesh is old but still seems well made...even the velcro on the cuffs is intact and I like the padded shoulders. I replaced the plastic zipper with a brass one that works very well ( exhaust on the CB300 with downright lethal).

Rev'it will be out of my price range, Any suggestions??
There is quite a bit of brand name used gear available and now my weight is way down I can fit more.

For street riding, I just use the CE-rated pads inside the pants. I have upgraded some of the older foam pads to D3O armor.

For off-roading, I have Leatt dual-axis hard knee armor under my pants.

I prefer straps behind the knee because the solid bands tend to bunch up and they also get hot and sweaty for me. YMMV.

Had a couple of bad spills in the last couple of years that lead me to believe I would be better served with knee braces instead of just guards.

Braces would prevent twisting and provide torsional support for the knee, to mitigate ACL and MCL tears.

Thanks - the Leatt gear is very nice. I was always wearing "attached to the knee" protection when I had the KLR650 going off pavement on occasion and with the VERY marginal brakes and knobbies street come offs were a potential.

Now it's the wet season here, roads can be sketchy and loads of round abouts. The CB500F has decent ABS but that is still likely my chief risk of an upset these days.

I have the mid calf Forma riding boots now instead of the knee high Gaerne tall boots so some extra cover in that area seems worthwhile.
There is a Dainese mesh jacket for $75 that might fit me. One year old.

Their tech seems pretty solid

I looked over the Joe Rocket jacket and it seems still in good nick. I've got a CE2 back protector I managed to insert and CE2 inserts. I still might grab the Dainese and sell the cheap HWK textile.

Tried some Fox Titan Pro, but they slipped, and then the knee can't bend.
Have the elbow pads as well, which work better.
Switched them out for something Revit Scram CE 2 which are shorter with material on top.

The new Dianese jacket looked "off" with the way over sized pants but with the Rev'it light weight riding pants it's a decent combo. I need a thin cotton riding shirt for this hot weather.

Maybe should keep the Schuberth C3...feels like a comfortable old shoe. Will test tomorrow. The new helmet is light and easy to wear but the whistle when the visor is open is annoying. Something I likely can track down.

I was pretty impresssed with the Scorpion Vortex Air jacket as far as full mesh jackets go. That said, I now prefer a leather mesh combo with leather on the outside of the arms/back/common abrasion areas, but they aren't as common as they used to be, never mind finding one that fits the way you like, or at a price you want to spend.

Price point is a huge issue for me. There have been some rather nice name brand leather motorcycle jackets but always leery here due to rain and mould as well as being too warm. Asking $100

Instead of cotton which just holds sweat, why not get actual under suit base layers? I just bought some Spidi under garments and walking around the house in them to test the sizing actually made me feel colder (and look spectacular).

I've got lots of technical poly shirts and they serve me well but soaking a cotton tee shirt is very effect because it holds the water ....the poly does not.

Seamless Shirt is made in a polyester/polyammide fabric blend that maximize transpiration

Cotton slows the transpiration holding the water longer.
