I wear them under pants no problem. Everyone whom I've showed them to didnt know I was wearing them prior. They fit snug nicely into a motorcycle boot, which helps keep it in place from sliding down your knee incase of sliding on pavement. The velcro also helps keep it in place. If you have fat legs, stay away, but other than that.... they're the best bang for the buck IMO.

The Icons look good but they are $60+ US, a lot of the Motocross ones are coming up at about $20 US and look OK too.
 
yeah but motocross ones are designed for motocross....

you may be able to use it for dual purpose, but i'll bet the ones designed for high speed motorcycles will do their intended job better.

you could always find soccer shin guards or other sports equipment to fit under your pants.... would be the same thing, and probably cheaper... but I woudlnt recommend it.
 
there are some good ones @ Royal Distributing...they fit nicely under jeans...comfy and front is hard shell.
 
I've read that the Icon knee guards tend to slide down the leg, as there's no strap above the knee (haven't tried them personally). I have the Knox cross guards which are pretty comfortable and easily hidden under pants, in addition to being CE rated. They're not much more expensive either, $75 from Topendz.
 
hey guys, just wanted to revive this thread

im a new rider in the city and im looking for some gear just for precaution.. i dont intend on ripping the highway so i wont be buying any suits or leathers.

any reviews from members on the board? any street spills to contest the usage of knee guards??

check out the dainese knee v guard, they are very low profile compared to other knee guards out there and protect just as well.
 
I have the alpinestars reflex ones linked above. They do fit under jeans, a little snug but that's fine, they'll be held in place.
 
I've got the A* Reflex. They were cheap and seem like they'd work ok. I took the armor out of my leather-reinforced jeans and use these instead. The jeans fit kind of loose so I figured in a fall the included armor wouldn't be in the right place to accomplish any protection.

The only problem is that the shin portion goes so low that my high Sidi boots don't really fit very well because my shin/calf becomes too wide to fit in the boot well. Works great if I'm wearing my steel toes or sneakers though.
 
Icon have a new model Stryker guard out too. I have no experience with it. Mixed reviews at online stores - motorcycle superstore/revzilla

I have these knee braces. Except mine are all black. I have a pair of riding pants that I wear over top and they aren't bulky or too big to fit.. they do not slide around when I wear them at all. I also had the regular cheaper kind, and they slid around all over the place, got rid of them. I can't say whether or not you NEED them, but I wanted them and it gave me piece of mind. Knee injuries are nasty (ask me how I know) if I can spend a tiny amount of money to help prevent a possible injury, I am always going to do it.

I wear these 80% of the times that I ride, and only short boots around my house I don't bother..
 
I started wearing a set here in Aus as I'm on a dual sport and some gnarly dirt roads and forest tracks as well as a knobby on often wet twisties.
I hate armoured pants but find the knee armour so light I just end up wearing it all the time under light loose riding pants.

I'm actually bringing them home as they weigh to little and I rarely ever notice them on. Also saves your knees for kneeling on pavement or gravel if something is awry. I find tall socks keeps them from rubbing at all and keeps them in place.

Have not tried them under my normal riding convertibles which are really light and tighter fit but think they should fit. Cheap armour and then I can go on dirt without concern.

Yup - one reason I got the shorter Dririder Nordic2 boots with a bit more aggressive tread and they are shorter.
