Kijiji prices for sportbikes?

Hi All, looking to get back into riding but I'm not sure what kind of prices are acceptable for a 2005-2006 600. I'm seeing anything between $5,200 to $4000 asking. All have about 30,000/40,000km on them. I was hoping to buy a '06 600 for around $4,000... any help would be appreciated.

In today's terms the bike cost is usually something of a secondary factor with the first and most important factor being the price of insurance. You might want to contact your broker first to see if it is feasible. Some have seen their premiums go up 200+% this year.

Also remember it is kijiji people can ask whatever they "feel" it is worth doesn't make it so. Find out what is an acceptable price range then go hunting with that in mind.

Any 2006 600ss for around $4000 will have either very high mileage, be dropped, or both. If you are willing to accept 35,000kms+ then you should find what you're looking for. If you are able to move up to around $5000, you will have a much bigger selection to choose from

I sold my 2010 GSXR 750 for $5200 with 60k on it as a point of reference. So a 2006 (10 years old) 600 for 5k is way over priced.

Not sure how 35k+ is high mileage for a 10 years old bike - that would put it at a 3500km a year average and that is really low KM to ride in one season, so expecting anything below that is unreasonable.

You are forgetting the issues with Insurance this year, you will see so many bikes for sale on the market this spring that prices will be a surprisingly low.
All those early 20s with insurance renewals of 200%+ will be selling

dreamland for that price. maybe in the late fall and even then you'd be buying low quaility one.

oh yes.. I almost forgot. My insurance went down this year.
im paying about 1/3rd this year over last years SF rates...but ive got a new address and new ins company.
SF went up about a grand on my renewal forms.

Toronto Kijiji is usually the most expensive. If you look at Hamilton, Oshawa, Barrie and London, you will generally find much better value. This part of the season is more of a seller's market, you'll find the biggest bargains at the end of the season

The problem is, most sellers want to try to squeeze the most money out to their bikes and buyers want to "get a deal". Bikes are only worth what someone is willing to pay so just because someone is asking $xxxx for their bike, doesn't mean it's worth that amount. What someone puts on kijiji can vary from what they're willing to take when you're there with cash in hand. Figure out what you want, check your insurance rates, go shopping and have a price in mind. If the first person you talk to is not willing to budge, move on and find another bike. There are hundreds of ~10 year old 600cc bikes out there with new ones added every day.

I sold my 15-year old Ducati in about a half hour on kijiji because I was asking a reasonable amount and didn't misrepresent the bike or myself when dealing with people. I've also bought used bikes on kijiji successfully by checking regularly and waiting for what I wanted to come along.

What happens if you post what you're looking for in very specific terms and see who wants to sell their bike?

you may get a few stupid replies.
i was looking for a wrecked harley last year and i was getting people saying they had some mint ones for 8 to 10 grand and one guy with a early 90s sportster that was dismantled , motor was questionable and he wanted 6 grand.
