Key Left in Ignition - Still in the on position

I was driving by in a cab from my office and saw this:

Who ever rides a Black Suzuki DRZ, and has parked it somewhere east of yonge st downtown, go Check your bike. Key is in the ignition, and it is still in the On position. Battery will be dead when you come out, or potentially gone....

Not posting the location, as this could be the easiest theft ever.....

you should have taken the key and left a note for the owner. I'm sure they would appreciate that.
But at least thanks for posting.. but not everyone is on GTAM ;-)

Where is it, I'll turn the key off for him :lmao:

Yeah, I saw that also as I was walking by.
I was going to be late so I borrowed and made my appointment on time. I have since returned it and removed the key.
Fun little bike.

is this a new easter egg hunt game? find the bike with the key in it?

Man, if I found a DRZ with a key in it I'd leave a note, take it for a demo ride, gas her up and drop her back off and update the note with my cell# to get the key back.

Reminds me of a friend that was gifted an old minivan by his parents that you didn't need the key to start. This was in Guelph. One day he's walking around downtown Guelph with a couple buddies and this van drives up all crazy, hops the curb, someone jumps out and runs into a business, van drives away. His buddies turn to my friend and go, "Wasn't that your van?" Dude just goes, "Yeah, pretty sure it was. Happens all the time. It'll be there when we get home." Apparently his friends or just random acquaintances would borrow it all the time without telling anyone. Pretty sure it had no insurance on it, though.

He usually just used it as an extension of his garage when he had parties and people would sleep or smoke up in it.

I've left my key in my bike overnight at a Green P. When I came out some guy was getting in his car and asks, "Is this your bike? I was just about to take the key and leave you a note." That would've been nicer than someone stealing it but would've made me late for work.

whooa there.. good intentions.. but at some point its technically a theft.. btw - where would you leave the first note if you went riding ;-)

This happened to me last season downtown. I was leaving the office and realized when I couldn't find the key on me. I went downstairs expecting to have the bike stolen or at a minimum, battery dead. Maybe not so much stolen since it was a CBR 250.

Fortunately, someone was kind enough to take the key out of the ignition and leave the key lodged in the brake cables. Which was super easy for me to find.

One of the nicest things a stranger has done for me.

Thank you kind stranger, where ever you are!

I’ve done this several time!
Park my bike on Simcoe St in the morning and go to work. Come back to the bike after work and start looking for the key… panic sets in. Did I lose it? Nah, it’s still in the ignition!
Once I forgot it in the keylock for the under seat storage. The keylock is on the bottom of the undertail and you can clearly see it sticking down. I saw it as I was walking up to the bike after work and was very thankful nobody swiped it or the bike.
Once I forgot my freaken brand new gloves (paid well over $100) on the seat (Simcoe north of King). As I was approaching the bike, I saw something that resembled a small bag on my seat. I was thinking why would somebody leave something on my bike. As I got closer, I realized that those were my new Daineses! Thanks God nobody took them! Some guy who works in the building came down to tell me that he was keeping an eye on those gloves and he was gonna take them and leave a note at the end of the day if I did not show up.

Under a rock on the ground where the bike was parked of course ;)
