Hi , so I got a r55 attached on my k7 gsxr 600 and it sounds gold but I want to get the cat removed and add a midpipr if necessary. I got the exhaust mounted at Rosey toes but they dont do cat removal/mid pipe there according to Ted. Any other mechanics that will get this done for me? And what kinds of costs and I'm looking at?
 
K7 has a bolt in cat which is removed when you installed your slip-on.....was it JUST the muffler that you installed? Youd need a midpipe then.
 
I'm not sure if the mechanic took out any bolt. I removed the stock exhaust including the cat which is connected to the exhaust. Same with the yoshi exhaust, the cat is connected to the muffler it's one unit.
 
Are you talking about the round canister of the R55 now sitting under your bike? That's not a cat that's the oval muffler volume. Your cat is gone.
 
Yeah the round canister? But the bike isn't as loud as I would like it to be. Maybe the baffles are in? Would it help to add a mid pipe and remove the round canister? And do you know of any mechanics they specialize in exhausts?
 
Don't remove the round canister. The silencer has a removable insert which is likely still installed. Take out the insert and you should have the result you want.
 
Hmmmm okay, is this something that can be easily done or would I have to take it back to the mechanic? And how do I check if the baffles are out?
 
Baffles, silencers, whatever. Sorry can't help further but you really shouldn't need a mechanic for any of this. At most you're loosening one or two clamps.
 
Hello, so I brought my bike to the mechanic and it turns out that all of the baffles are already out. The thing is, there is a canister that is connected to the exxhaust and it acts as a second exhaust which is why the sound is not as loud. He recommended that I get the canister removed and get a straight mid pipe and attach it directly to the exhaust. Anyone know any mechanics that can get this done for me a good price? And how much am i looking to pay approx? Would i have to buy the mid pipe seperately or can a mechanic weld one for me ?
