It's all fun and games until someone crashes...

In other words I'm out for a while. I'm not giving any details on the wreck for now until insurance is settled but I'm perfectly fine thanks to my gear but also lucky. One slight elbow bruise and a sore butt cheek. I've come out way worse on snowboards. The 250 is toast.

All my peeps message away, I'll get to you but for now I'm going to curl up in a ball and suck my thumb and cry myself to sleep because it will be a while before I get to ride again.

Oh and my pride is severely bruised... bah.

Ohhhh sorry to hear. At least you are ok. Bikes are replaceable, people are not. Hope everything works out.

Me too. Also I want to give props to the literally dozens of riders and locals that stopped to make sure I was ok while waiting for a lift. Several even turned around after passing me to make sure. A few locals even gave me their numbers and said give them call if I needed anything. Brilliant. Only outside Toronto.

Hey OP,

Sorry to hear but glad you were able to walk away from it. Best thing is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, learn from your mistake and hopefully not repeat it. All the best with you and good luck with your insurance etc...

Remember better the bike than you.

+1

Also make sure you take a visit to your doc, you may have an injury your not aware of.

That's a bummer man, but it's pretty safe to say a vast majority on here have crashed in some fashion, it can be a great learning experience. Nothing else drives home the fact that motorcycles are not toys more than having one disintegrate underneath you.

good to hear no serious injuries and no pending charges.

Good thing it was just the bike, not you, and that you're still in one piece.

GWS.

Learn from it, don't beat yourself up over it and put it behind you.

GWS and have fun looking for a new bike. That's the best type of shopping there is.

Those 250's are good crash bikes!

My friend earlier this summer:

Get well soon OP, and get back on wheels asap. Going to 600 or straight to 750 or 1k?

Eljay you are a regular around here....sad to see your bike gone but glad to see you were wearing gear. It came to your rescue when you needed it...

GWS, and understandable you don't want to post details until the 'insurance dust' settles...but out of interest, can you post what gear you were wearing and how it held up (also if high-side or low-side)? Always interested in real-world examples about what works, fails, etc.

Thanks for all the support guys. I'm really not hurt in any way except for some elbow and knee bruises that are pretty minor. I'd come out of a basketball game with worse.

I was wearing an AGV helmet (of course!) and Alpinestars textile jacket with elbow/shoulder/back armor and jeans and low rise Puma boots and Velocity gloves. It's all pretty messed up now. I didn't hit my head that I recall so I'm not sure if the helmet is ok. I did roll/somersault a bit, so there are scratches on the helmet. I went down off road into some brush and dirt. Feel pretty lucky (but also sad as you can imagine); jeans didn't tear or anything so there's not a drop of blood.

Weather's great everyone, get off the forum and go enjoy it!

Hah Jamie, I don't know what to do right now. I have to wait and see once insurance is done, check the finances, then see if I can go right away or save up. My confidence is not back to zero at the moment so I'll need time to think about what to do. I was thinking of downgrading to a Ruckus lol.

DRZ 400 would be better than the Ruckus ;)

If your insurance is giving you a hard time about the price (who are you with?) just let me know and I'll get you three "comparables" to make sure you get the maximum amount of money for your bike. Was it the ABS model? They'll also cover ALL of your gear, so for sure get a new helmet, don't risk it ;)

Man that sucks. Hopefully it won't be too long before you get back riding! Still got a few months left to this season.
