It happened... Crashed my bike!

Early this afternoon while driving down bayview near davisville, I was driving north on bayview when a jeep cherokee making a left turn pulled out in front of me. I grabbed the brakes but it happened too fast. I smashed into the passenger side door. I was tossed up over the bike and hit back first into the jeep. I landed on my feet though! Thankfully I was going pretty slow.

The bike is smashed up pretty good in the front. A couple of witnesses stuck around to give statements. One of which rides, and the other was the wife of a cop. The officer on scene also rides so he ways pretty knowledable about how these things happen. other driver ended up being charged as well.

Ironically, I was on my way to drop my bike of to be repaired after another claim from when my neighbor backed up into it!

Thankfully I was driving pretty slow when it happened. I'm definitely going to be sporting some nice bruises, but I'm otherwise okay.

Goes to show you, that even when you are driving cautiously, accidents can happen.

Ride safe everyone!

glad to see you are ok

I am sorry for the cager as well...bad things happen to good people sometimes.

Hopefully you will have the heart to forgive him/her

As a joke send your new repair quote to your neighbour. Glad your ok.

What happens now? The repairs that were needed as a result of the neighbour backing into it is nullified now that he was hit by a jeep. evang, were you going through insurance with your neighbour? Or was he going to pay out of pocket?

Glad to hear you're ok. It made me think of this video: http://youtu.be/uqG7va7sWys

I've seen that video many times before but this is the first time I noticed he wasn't wearing a helmet or any gear at all. O_O

Glad to hear you're okay OP. I find people up north are a lot nicer and tend to remain/contribute with a witness statement a lot more than farther down south

Glad to hear that you're ok, the bike can be replaced and since its the camera fault hopefully you get enough to get an even better bike than you had

It all went through insurance. Insurance had already paid for everything, the parts were all ordered and paid for. I was taking my bike to have the work done. A couple of the parts that were smashed yesterday, were ones that were being replaced already.

However, now the tank is dented (which i think might be from my balls!), front cowling is totally smashed to pieces, handle bar is badly bent, exhaust is scratched, windscreen is toast, and I'm sure the fairing on the side that went down is probably scratched up to. Insurance is coming this week to check it out more thoroughly, and also the dealer is going to have to check it out as well.

I was northbound on bayview at davisville! :p

Were you hurt in any way? Did your gear get cut up? You need to monitor yourself carefully for a couple of days at least. Claim all gear damaged in the crash.

^^ +1. Make sure you have the police report that the cager got charged. Claim all gear - helmet, jacket, pants, etc. Day 1 & Day 2 after the crash will be aweful... not trying to sugarcoat it. Make sure you head to a doctor to have a check up. Sometimes body parts get compressed and they need to be fixed.

Good to hear your okay . . . if you had braked so hard that you lost control of your bike and it slid in to the car it would have been a different situation; The law is messed up that way. If you hit the car making the left while riding your in the clear. If you loose control b/c you get cut off and slide in to the car your at fault . . . . You lucked out big time. Happy healing !

Glad you are OK! My friend had a similar thing happen, and other than her visor shattering and cutting her face, she landed on her feet and didn't have much injury either!

I hope insurance treats you good. So she's written off? Got new bike plans?

I swear, you guys have Wolverine's skeleton :) I take a low speed lowside and fracture my collarbone, lol.

Glad to hear you are okay.

Have a high purple and yellow bruise on the left side of my lower back. Top of my right foot is sore. I think it must have caught something when I went over the bike. My left shoulder was sore, but feels better now. Basically my back took the worst of it. But other than the bruise, I'm feel fine.

All my gear looks fine. Though I've been told that my helmet is probably toast. I found the receipt from when I purchased it, so I'm going to provide that to the insurance company as well.

Sucks to crash, but I'm happy to be okay and glad I wasn't at fault! Good thing i was in full gear to. I rode with out it for a lot of the summer as it was so hot. If I wasn't in my gear, I'm sure my left knees would be hurt bad, as well as my left shoulder.

On a side note, my tank is dented right in the front. I have no idea what could have done it other than ME be thrown forward into it. right around where my crotch sits too!

I know the feeling. Crashed the bike in Virginia on the Blue Ridge Parkway this past Friday. Broke radius and ulna in my left forearm

!!!GO TO THE DOCTOR!!! even if you feel you are ok, trust me you are not, something may have twisted on your spine or whatever and you won't feel it for a few months.

I wrote up a bunch of info on the process after my accident
