Instrument cluster damaged from crash. options?

A friend of mine had a crash with her 09 Yamaha Virago 250. The spedometer/odometer was damaged, including the glass cover - it was damaged completey. it's obviously not a good idea to ride with the glass missing.

So what are the options? Can the cluster be replaced? How would that work for the odometer mileage? Can the glass be repaired?

I had an instrument cluster replaced on my old Triumph, the odometer was set back to zero on the new cluster, I asked them why they couldn't change it to where the old one got up to and they said it wasn't possible.

I'm not familiar with the bike, but if it has a cable driven speedo, grab a used cluster off ebay; an electric drill would be all you need to correct the mileage.
