American football is my least favourite of all the footballs (in order, it's football, rugby football, Canadian football, then American football), but a case could be made for Brady being among the greatest pro athletes in any sport. Winning with Tampa really put the whole "product of a Belichick system" argument to bed.
I cheered against Brady's teams at every opportunity, and he was never my favourite personality, but you can't argue the talent...

I don't consider soccer in the same sports realm - while it's physical, it's a non-contact sport. My favorites in contact field sports are American Football, Canadian Football, Aussie Rules Football then Rugby. My fave contact sport is Hockey. My fave non-contact sport is basketball.
I think each sport has its own GOAT, it's hard to argue against Tom Brady being that guy for American Football.

Considering what an absolutely monumental d**chebag Dan Snyder is, I'm convinced he has gone about this as an eff you for being forced to change the team name. It doesn't take this long to come up with such a half-arsed solution. Worst bit is you can't shorten it without it sounding ridiculous. Pats, Bucs, Cards and Niners all work. Comms? Nope. 'Manders? Nope. Commands? Nope. 'Ders? Nope.
Also, they say it's to honour the military in Washington, but Commander is sort of a weird middle rank in the US Navy and Coast Guard, below a Captain. Might as well call them the Washington Lieutenant Colonels. There are so many ranks that would have been better: Admirals, Sergeants, Majors, Colonels. Generals would be great except for that whole Globe Trotters things, though I'd be all in favour of calling them the Washington Seamen in honour of their illustrious owner...
