I'm wondering if sitting down and discussing things with an independent broker might be an idea in this case.
 
give all detailed info to a company/broker and get a proper quote based on the facts rather than making assumptions and hearsay. That will be the ultimate outcome you'll have to deal with anyways when you do decide to get insurance.
 
Yes talk to a broker as you WILL be into facility insurance if you have an impaired conviction, with or without collisions.
