i think my rear tire's wear bars are showing...

lol, unless i see chunks missing or metal strands showing, i know i should have changed it a long time ago...i never figure out the wear bars...
 
Just get new tires. I could have given you the tires that just came off my bike. They weren't even down to the wearbars yet... but they were cooked.

Seriously, get new tires.
 
If it's a sport tire, 10k is a good life and should be replaced. Find the wear indicator bars and if it's close to it (or passed it) then just get new tires.
In colder, and wetter temperatures, you want a tire that has life and grip to it.
Afterall, it is your life that depends on them. A tire that is near the end of its recommended life will not perform well.
 
I usually start shopping for tires when wear bars show up ... by the time I've found a tire, chances are its already gone...

granted on my touring bike, I have spare tires in the garage and since it rides in all conditions I'll replace them at the wear bar not below
