How to remove matte finish

It may be easier to spray a glossy coat of clear on top(just an idea, I've done it with paint before, but not with lacquer or carbon).

is it real carbon fibre? I'd agree it would be easier to top coat with desired gloss level, removing is very difficult and precarious.

If it's really lacquer, you could remove it with lacquer thinner, and spray it with a UV blocking non-lacquer clearcoat.

BUT... you could also polish and buff it to a brilliant shine by 'hand rubbing.'

If you sand too deeply into the carbon, the fibres will fray, and they will stick out and that will spoil your finish.

Sorry - should have provided a bit more detail. Tank is carbon/Kevlar and finished in matte. However the matte finish reacts to ethanol and it creates a white haze/oxidization that is essentially unremovable. So looking to remove this matte finish which I am told is a laquer and polish the tank or have it re-matted with crap that won't react to ethanol. So anybody know place - perferably west end that could do this.
