how picky are the M2 Exit testers on tires?

I booked my M2 exit for early may, but I'm not getting new tires until I go to the gap in mid may. Mine are pretty worn in the middle from commuting and with all this nice weather, I'll be putting more km on it than usual for this time of year. I have no doubts that I'll be fine with these tires until the middle of may, but I don't want to get turned away and forfeit my $75.

i guess the other option is to book the test for after I get back, but I want to get it done as early as possible so it's out of the way...

The Examiner goes over all the safety features on your bike before you begin the road test. If you have hazard lights know how to engage them. If your bike wouldn't certify by a mechanic to sell it, then it wouldn't pass the Examiner's inspection before the exam and you won't be able to do it until it's fixed. Obviously you can certify a bike with worn tires but the grooves have to be a certain depth (sorry don't have that #). That being said, I didn't see them carrying a depth gauge so if they look reasonable you shouldn't have a problem.
You might want to check all the safety features a few days ahead so you have some time to fix anything necessary.

the rest of the bike is in top shape, its just that I normally order my tires from the states (one of the benefits to having a 250 is cheap tires down south) and since I'm going to the gap I was just going to have them sent to the house and then mounted there rather than getting them sent to the border and bringing them back myself
