So I got out in my first ride on my s40 after swapping my exhaust and seems my pants got a bit close and melted on the exhaust in a couple spots lol. Is there a way to clean it off ? Like could I run the bike hot and then wipe it off with a damp cloth or ?

Melted my rain pants on the pipe of my enduro.

Used oven cleaner and a plastic scraper to scrape off the residue. Bring the exhaust up to running temperature and don't use anything harder or more abrasive than the pipe itself or you'll scratch it up.
So you ran the bike to running temp and then sprayed oven cleaner on it and scraped clean ?

Yep. This was on a dirtbike, so I didn't care if there were little scratches on the pipe. If you want your chrome to be nice and shiny, take your time scraping the plastic off and use a very soft scraper.
Would the oven cleaner not burn off right away ? 🤔

I had a buddy I worked with that bought a brand new Honda 550 in I think 1974. He told me he was riding it home from the dealership along Eglinton and a big plastic bag blew in front of him and ended up melting all over the front of his bike on the chrome exhaust pipes. He had the bike for a couple of years and was never able to get it off.

A piece of wood like the shims for installing windows works good and is unlikely to scratch up the chrome.
With the pipe up to temperature and all.

Try WD40 on cold pipe and scrape it with a soft (plastic) scraper.

Everything was a no go lol, went back to the old times and used some hot soapy water and SOS pad. Seemed to work well

EXCEPT this odd colour, I’m unsure what it from as whether my pants slightly touched it enough to discolour or if it just heat but I doubt that it’s from heat.
