Hi guys,

Does anybody know, is this bike will be selling in Canada and when?

Same reason they do not sell the Yamaha TDM 900, I guess they think there is no market for it here. I DO NOT AGREE AT ALL these bikes are great-BTW I own a TDM 900 in Europe.

How about the 100lbs of excess weight it has over other bikes in the same niche that make the same power.

KTM SMT, Ducati Hyperstrada, etc.

These types of bikes are fantastic as the last post said. Sadly the average north American rider can't seem to appreciate bikes that are excellent all around. For some strange reason we buy super heavyweight bikes with next to no handling capabilities or race bikes with mirrors and turn signals. Either extreme kind of sucks to ride on the road. A bike like this crosstour is just way to sensible for us! ;-)

I'm sure it has more power than anyone could ever need/want on the street, comfortable ergonomics, excellent handling on even the twistiest road, enough luggage space to go for a serious tour if wanted that can be removed in seconds if you don't. Who would want a bike like that? :p

We really are missing out on some fantastic bikes this side of the pond. Sad.

This^. There are lots of riders out there that don't want a ss or a cruiser. Choices in between are not all they could be. (I always wished they would sell bikes like the 125 2t dual sports here) I had the chance to ride a TDM 850 once, great bike lots of fun.

It is true that there are riders here that don't want heavy cruisers or SS bikes (myself among them) but obviously the sales figures show us in the minority. Show up at any bike event, cruise night or even just go for a ride and pay attention to the bikes you see and you'll see that. Bike companies don't care what bikes they ship to which countries as long as they're expected to sell. So if you don't see a bike here that they sell in Europe say, its because the bean counters at HQ have crunched the numbers and decided there isn't enough profit to be made.

Lots of bikes over the years that are excellent sellers in Europe have made it to north America only to be sales flops here. Honda cb599 was one of the best selling bikes in Europe and barely made a dent here. Many were still in the show room two years later. Honda Deuville 700 is another huge seller in Europe. It was brought to the U.S. in 2011 I believe, never made it to Canada. Lasted two years and then no longer available. Back in 2000 the Kawasaki w650 showed up for a few seasons then disappeared. That bike has a cult following here now, but sold poorly at the time. Bike was still available in the U.K. up until a few years ago when it was updated to a W800.

If US doesn't import it, Canada is very small market to haul the licensing and setup cost by local branch themselves. Not really worth considering they would probably sell what 5-10 units ...?

But, as other posts hinted there's many other choices ... they will work, unless you are a Honda type of a guy.
