Was lurking around Honda Canada website's today and something interesting caught my attention. Honda Canada seem's to have discontinued sales of CB1000R. The original URL for the CB1000R page is no longer available, and instead greets you with Error 404: Not Found request.

Not to mention it's no longer listed in the Naked bike category. The only bikes in the Naked category are the GROM, CB300F and CB500F.

Anyone know what happened to the CB1000R?

The one under Honda US is still active. Has a nice new paint job.

Perhaps it's done for in Canada, which sucks. I was looking at one few months ago before I got a monster.

Honda probably got wind of what's happening to insurance rates here and decided sales would tank even further in the coming season. This is a pre-emptive move on their part. :P

I don't know a lot of Suzuki bikes are gone. Like Gladuis, SV, GW and I noticed KTM RC8R is no more as well :(

Call Ready in Mississauga .... Earlier this year they still had two, one in a crate. It's non-current 2013.

No surprise here, it can't hold a candle next to its competition... It was kinda crap from day one IMO. It dynos like 110 at the rear wheel what were they thinking??

Maybe they were thinking torque and drivability. Anybody who's ever talked to me about a detuned CBR1000 type bike always raves. Even our very own MacDoc is over the moon and he's a former Burgman pilot.

Well yeah I'd be over the moon on an sv650 coming from a Burgman.

I guess they weren't targeting the same market as Streetfighter, Super Duke, S1000R, Tuono, etc. More the FZ1 crowd... (bored retirees)

I'm looking forward to the 2017 Suzuki SV650A, my cup of tea. Was never big fan of SV since they looked like junk with the fairings. And most naked don't have that old school single headlight which I so much love.

Neh. I'm just gonna get Triumph Street Triple R and look what reviews the 2017 SV650A get's + pricing so then I can debate between Suzuki or Triumph. I kind of gave up on Honda.

I love how one can speculate on the business decisions of a MNC based on a simple, common website error...

Randamu: If you have the scratch, the TSTR is the clear choice. The 2017 SV is just a reworked Gladius (compare the photos). It's a classic Suzuki street bike (meaning non-SS): good engine and cheap suspension. Wish they added that round headlight to the newish Bandit 1250 instead--it looks great as a naked in other countries.

If Honda was smart they'd relist the CBF1000 which is a better sport tourer with the emphasis on tour than the VFR800.

Tamed down Fireblade 1 litre with 100 hp in light weight bike - 490 lb....much fun.

Same insurance cost as the Burgman or the Wee - gotta tell you tho...not so easy on the fuel costs - but hey - that's cheap these days

Nice bike but it did not sell well. The problem is , It weighed as much as a bandit and had poor brakes and uninspiring performance compared to the benchmark at the time FZ1.

If the CB 1000R did not sell, this CBF 1000 would fail even worse.

Your call, obviously, but you seem to be all over the map right now .... CB1000R, STR to SV650 ..... day and night from one to another. If I was you, I'd try to narrow it down first .....

Reworked Gladius? Gladius was a bastardized SV to begin with. ;)

Heh, very true. Looking at the photos, the Gladius always reminded me of a cut-rate Monster 696 with that half-trellis frame. I think the original SV was intended as such too, but the frames (1st gen welded and 2nd gen cast) and styling went their own way, which is why they still look great. Suzuki could simply have offered an R version of the 650 and made a bundle. I wonder how the sales numbers added up in the end. Were the silver pants a marketing blunder as we assume, or an improbable success?
