Homicidal Cagers. Why do they get away with it?

I was expecting a story about a cager who committed a homicide and got away with it! Imagine my disappointment..it's like reading The Toronto Sun headlines..sigh...

There was once a story on the news about the sheepish-ness of Canadians. It mimicked a story like the OP's.

a) What would an American do?
b) What would a Canadian do?
c) What would a Brit do?

Answers:

a) shoot!
b) point a wagging finger
c) write a letter

You just lived up to your username. If you do nothing, (as most Canadian's will choose to), nothing will happen.

FWIW, reading the OP's story in detail makes me think the chick was probably stoned on oxy or something.

National stereotypes aside, you don't see how any of your suggested actions have a high likelihood of going badly in a hurry for the motorcyclist?
  • Ride a 600+ SS. Any bike is still at a huge disadvantage to any car. The only thing a fast SS can do is get out of the way, if possible, and there are many variables; traffic, curbs, etc. that can prevent that. Add the relative inexperience of a new rider in a tense and scary situation and it's a recipe for disaster. Having a bigger gun does not make one bullet proof.
  • Throw something at the car. So there's an already reckless and dangerous driver playing games and then s/he is further antagonised by having their vehicle damaged. All they have to claim is that the broken windshield (broken by the "crazy" guy on the bike) prevented them from seeing and that's why they slammed into the bike.
  • Make a false statement to the police. This may not have any physical repercussions but cops don't take gun calls lightly. Worst case; the driver gets shot by a nervous cop who mistakes their cell phone for the gun you claimed. Best case, you get charged with making false statements and whatever else they can think of. Either way, you get to spend a lot of time in court and face possible civil action.
By all means, do what you think is best for you, but if you're going to advise others, especially newer riders, do make them aware of all the possible repercussions.

I really hate to say this, but in dealing with my hit and run and watching the f**ker who hit my bike basically walk away without being charged, even with escalating the issue etc. My faith in the police when it comes to traffic is practically non-existent now. I can't imagine that reporting anything through a website would do anything. That's just me though.

Were gonna need to do something about this B!+<|-| . . . AHHHH this $|-|!7 gets me so mad . . . goosefraba

It's not hard to punch out a car window, and with the gloves on, adrenaline pumping and the anger you have at the time of her attempting to kill you... I wouldn't be surprised if anyone on the forum punched one window hard enough to break all of them.
I'd like to see that..you been taking Chuck Norris lessons??

It's been some time since I took any driving classes (other than the bike course) and I know they cover general road safety rules but is there anything about how dangerous you are in a car these days? What kind of hazard you can be? At least we could start teaching new drivers to not be *****.

It is unlikely that anyone who's been driving for a while will change their behaviour unless they seriously injure or kill someone. And even then it's not for sure. Best we can do is stay alert and avoid those types whenever possible.

Well you know where she lives now . You gotta do what you gotta do.... Ring her doorbell
Or we could ALL show up at her house one day and politely ask what her problem is. I bet she wouldn't be smiling that day.

But I already have my stick of fire ready and my pitchfork strapped to the back of the bike!!And no I haven't personally done it but have seen it done first hand. I've also seen a stupid punk stand on the hood of several cars on my street and kick in the windshield. I called the cops and his parents were really excited to hand out cheques to all the vehicle owners

The only saving grace is that any hit-n-run driver that is caught is screwed on insurance. Insurance treats it as badly as (or almost as badly as) a DUI.
