Hit and run stories

Anyone else here had a hit and run happen to their parked bike?

I was working the other day and where I works sees a lot of traffic in a small parking lot. When I go to leave at night, I find my bike (KLR) in gear and front wheel right against the curb, that's odd I think to my self. I never leave my bike in gear on a flat surface. That's when I notice my mirror arms are loose and spinning freely, and my handlebar has been bent. Upon inspection of my crash bars and bar ends I see nice new gouges all over them.

Luckily no major damage, at first I thought it was hooligans getting back at me for not serving them, but then I thought why would they knock it over then stand it back up? I start suspecting a hit and run and sure enough I find a large scuff on my rear fender, which pretty much is physically impossible to hit off the ground. I conclude that someone backed into my bike while parked and had the indecency to pick it up and not come inside to find whose bike they hit.

Basically just ranting, kinda sour about it but happy no major damage occurred.

Who else has hit and run stories?

Had the same thing happened to me when i stayed overnight in Toronto.
Was parked on the street, woke up early for work and while walking to the bike looked fine as I got closer I noticed the bar end mirror damage(dangling), rear cowl damage, peg and kick stand bent
I think the car in front of my backed into the bike, then the owner picked it up and left before I woke up.
I was back 2 days after and noticed a small scuff on the cars bumper that matched my frame slider. (owned a 599 hornet at the time) I just sucked it up and fixed it.

But since you own a KLR, I'm sure the asphalt took most of the beating ;)

I'm sure it has happened to a lot of us. For me, they didn't even try to stand it back up. Apparently a few people saw it, but didn't remember enough to pin it on anyone. It's amazing how much damage can be done from a stationary fall.
