Any differences in sound ? Bottom end gains/loss? For a 99-02 r6 can i still retain passenger pegs or does it depend on the high mount can ?

It's more about volume of the exhaust rather then how high or low you mount it.

Personal opinion, I am the opposite as you. I think high-mounts look very clean compared to a big canon hanging down on the side.
High-mounts are fine for passengers as along as you get CF or Titanium.
