Help - I'm in a tire pickle and too frustrated to choose right now

My bike model is in siggey.

It currently has a set of Pilot Road 2's installed.
The front one is about a month old, the rear has been on since April of this year.

A couple months back I got a nail in my tire and I was able to plug it. Everything has been fine until this morning.
I woke up to a flat tire this morning leaving the gf's to go to work.
I was able to find the source of the leak and I will be honest, it is not in a good spot.
**This is a new hole/puncture, has nothing to do with the original tire repair.

The issue is a combination of a puncture AND a gouge to the rubber. It is IN the tread and almost all the way to the left of the tire's curvature. A single plug did not seal the deal so I did it again with two plugs at once and then melted the tip to create as much of a seal as possible.

It held fine for a 20km ride home and another 2km to work but I have my experience in tire repairs and I don't like it the way it is. I no longer have any trust in the tire and I don't feel comfortable riding the bike.
My bike is my only vehicle at the moment.

Here's where I need your suggestions/opinions:

I found some great (as least I think so) sale prices for Pilot Road 2's, Pilot Road 3's and Dunloq Q2's.
The SV is a sport touring and the Pilot Road series are a great match to this type of bike.
The Q2 from my understanding is a full sport tire and much softer as a whole so it will wear out faster, but will be much stickier than the PR series. A couple of my friends on ZX6R's got them and they say they are really great tires, but it suits their bikes.

Since my front tire is still new, I figure these are my options:

1- Buy another PR2 rear to match the front and be happy. -> 143$
2- Buy a pair of PR3's and sell the PR2 used. -> 296$
3- Buy a pair of Q2's and sell the PR2 used. -> 228$

Thanks a lot ahead of time for your suggestions/opinions and your help.

If I remember correctly, you posted you bike up for sale? If it's still up for sale / your selling it, just get the PR2 Rear and be happy for now until you sell it. No need to spend on new tires and deal with the hassle of selling a used front. If the front it pretty much new, change the rear to match and all is well.

Forget the Q2s.
Get a new rear PR2!
Or I'm sure you could run a new PR3 rear with your existing front...

I was going through a stage of wanting a 4x4 to go mudding, hence the high price listed for the km's it has.
I'm pretty sure I'm keeping my SV for another season since the gf is looking to get a 250 for next year.
The ad is still up because everything is always for sale...for the right price lol.

Getting a PR2 rear is the simplest/cheapest solution but with the prices I found the PR3's and Q2's, it's a good opportunity to upgrade and I'm 50/50 on whether I should take that plunge.

Gryphon, I thought of matching a PR3 to my front PR2 and figured there wouldn't really be an issue.
Can I ask why you suggest I forget the Q2's? (just trying to edumacate myself. :))

I don't get what the issue is, just get a new rear and don't make such a huge deal out of it

You'll likely go through 2 rears for every front anyways, time for a new rear. You log some serious miles, so I'd go cheap and just pop a new rear on.

Karma dictates that changing a tire that doesn't need it will result in a flat lol.

Already 4 votes for the PR2 plus it's the cheapest/simplest solution, so that counts as a vote making it 5.
I'm a lot less frustrated now that i've been at work for 3 hours and it is a lot simpler than I made it out to be.
Gonna order one later today after work.

Thanks to those who have posted, and any one who may post afterwards.

@mikbusa: two things. First, I almost wrote mikcbr, and second, Clare's wanted 308$ + tax + install for a PR2 rear.....LOL!!

Race offs!
