I don't need a study to tell me that the more protection I wear the safer I will be in a crash! Glad to know the science agrees though. Thanks for sharing!

Indeed!

an obvious good use of funding dollars. Had this money not been so wisely spent so this information would be available to me, I would have always wondered if my helmet provided any benefit.

I thank the OP for sharing and the author for bringing this information to light :D

I'm an ATGAT... thought I'd share for the others.

I was thinking the same thing... why does anyone need to see stats to prove wearing a helmet saves lives?

Because some people dont know...and some people need numbers to understand

Then again, some people understand and just don't care to wear one..

You'll be safer in a car than in a bike.

Yet we all choose to ride two wheels on the street/track, as opposed to driving the latest offering from Volvo.

We look at riders who ride with no gear, the same way cage drivers look at us(regardless of whether or not we are gear up).

Just back from the state of Ohio. No helmet people look mighty strange. Like they're stitting in the eye of Darwin.

My last two crashes I ground down a flat spot on the front of the helmet and ripped the shield off, and on the second I hit the ground hard enough to crack the back of the helmet and the tyre mark where the bike hit my head is clearly visible.

In my early riding career when I did an overseas stint I never wore a helmet...hell I wasn't even licensed. I'm lucky I never went down.
Here I would never ride without one, you just look like a fool not wearing one especially on a sportbike.
I have to say though I've been down about 6 times and the helmet wouldn't have helped in any of them because my head never touched down...

I hope they come out with the next study telling us the dangers of smoking. I'm not so sure if it is good or bad for you
