Have iPhone follow custom route?

conundrum

Well-known member
Not interested in the debate between iPhone, Android and Zumo/Rider...but does anyone know if there is a way to make an iPhone follow a Google Maps route and give you turn by turn over audio/bluetooth?

To give context, I'm thinking about doing the Fall Cannonball 500, and would want a way for me to load the route map into the phone so it tells me which roads to take/when to turn. I already have a Sena SMH10, so the comms unit is dealt with, but Apple Maps doesn't do routing.

Furkot is likely the right approach along with Motomapper.

The difficulty is getting it translated to a GPX or other format.

There are good apps with turn by turn. I use TomTom App for the WInding Roads and it's turn by turn.

Copilot can import GPX - not sure if MotionGPS is turn by turn .....it's not quite there yet going google to GPS App but getting there.

According to the newest Google Maps update for iOS (sept 1st), you can 'view custom maps created using Google My Maps'. I haven't personally tried it yet, but maybe that would work?

EDIT: Now I've tried it - you can VIEW them. It won't give you nav to follow them.
