I wanted to return a jacket back to revzilla and chose our old faithful USPS via canadapost for this job...it's been 5 days and the package is still stuck at Chicago customs...USPS guys are just jerking me around as usual...

Has anybody here ever had these issues or is US customs/USPS service that late for every one??

Packages can get hung up at Customs.

And people wonder why stores cost more...

Good luck with the return dude....

I had a package held by Canada customs for almost 3 weeks once. Apparently they can hold an item up to 30 days without reason. Not sure if US customs is the same but I don't think you'll get anywhere with them. Best bet is to speak to Revzilla and tell them what's going on.

This. And everybody cries every time a bike/accessories shop closes down.

There are a lot of factors as to why retail sales might not be happening and much of it is self-inflicted.

Location? Impossible to get to? Then niches served, Royal is power sports in general (but also sells bicycles too) while another shop might be solely bikes only so everything is slower in the winter. That would be the sustainability of sales momentum. Then there is the service aspect. Some shops are bikes only or gear only while others are both and service as well. If bringing for service you might buy gear too (eg BMW). Then there is widely disparate pricing even in the Toronto market. I have seen the icon 29er cheap glove sold at Royal for 29 and at another shop in TO for 45. At that markup they are probably buying it retail and then marking it up 50% and calling it a convenience fee. Same shop still sells helmet other stores like Revzilla already cleared out for $50 approximate for $200 etc. That's a big difference. Then there is service comfort. Do you feel comfortable going to a shop across the street from a HA clubhouse? Are the people groomed and friendly or are they surly?

Edit: I'll also add to that, stock. Depressing to advertise stock and then say this is a special order item when someone shows up in person (eg GP). Meaning the "good stuff" is carried less than the boutique stuff you might be interested in. It's economies of scale and supply I realize it but why not have stuff of different things even if they are very expensive. Maybe just 1 or 2 at the busiest location, etc

I started a retail business and worked retail 4 years so I feel I have a feel for what works and what doesn't.

It's a tough market to service, bikes. You really do need a huge amount of capital if you want to be monster sized.

People don't just show up if you hang a sign. There needs to be a reason why they are showing up. If it was that simple, there would be a Timmy's on every corner.

Stores cost more is the reason why I chose Revzilla.

I screwed up and got the wrong size and that's my fault...

I did go to GP bikes but they said if I wear it , I buy it. The guy was being sarcastic( atleast I hope he was)...unfortunatly for him, this dude doesn't like sarcastic comments made at him when it's his turn to be the customer( you see he works in the service industry!)

Bull ***** attitude on top of high prices makes me want to go "hey ,welcome to Revzilla, where you can watch, decide and RIDE!"

Don't bother replying...I'm not coming atcho and I certainly do not want this thread to turn out to go in another direction.

Equally so, i'm not stirring stuff (or trying to) either. The convenience is what you're paying for in a store. The more convenient it is (hours, locations), the more expensive.

It's the along the same line as me not lining up for more than 10 minutes to fill up my gas tank to save 3 bucks. I pay for convenience. Mind you there are things i will buy onilne - but these are things i don't need to go into a store to chat up a salesperson first before ordering online later. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Seriously, good luck with the return.

Don't worry about it. Revzilla has some of the best customer service in the industry, I don't think you'll have any problem returning the jacket.

Technically the canadian goverment should tax and tariff the crap out of everything that comes in.

How can any canadian merchant compete with an American merchant nevermind an online store .. There is mega volume of people in the usa and lower cost for everything.

If they dont tax these things out of the gazooo them we are just a psudo American state.

And no small canadian business will exist . If Canadians are shopping out of the country.

I bought a teknic back protector off revzilla for 59.99. bought teknic violator gloves for 89.99. GP has the back protector listed for 199.99, and the gloves for 200 and some change. THAT'S why i shop online/at revzilla.

If someone can come up with a legitimate reason for me to spend 100% more then i'm all ears. IMO canadian merchants are thieves.

This is going to screw up a lot of stores. Placed like Best Buy already have a huge problem with people coming in, identifying the tv they like then going out and mail ordering it.

If I spend awhile trying gear on for fit, I will buy it there. It's only fair. Bricks and mortar isn't free to maintain.

Canadian merchants are not thieves.. You have to understand a few concepts
Here is only two their is more

1. There is 300+ million people in the usa vs our30+. They have warmer climate longer riding season and millions more riders. They can sell 100 items and make $10 profit per item but canada sells 20 items so they have to make $50 profit

2. We have way more taxes then they do.

I understand your point, you only care about the money you are paying and so do I but its like pissing in your pool soon you are going to ruin it. And that soon is real soon.

Everything is cheaper in the usa.. They sell 30 molson Canadians for $18 at walmart. So what do we do buy everything from another country ?

The result will be canada will have nothing but usa big box stores that sell everything and have complete monopoly on the market

Give it about 15-20 years

These things are not mutually exclusive. I shop at Revzilla and I also shop at GP. It's good to have option from a consumer's point of view and last I checked GP expanded to a multi million dollar facility after the dot com era. So, not everyone is closing shop because of the American etailers.

OP, just pick up the phone and call Revzilla. I returned enough things and they didn't bat an eye about restocking or refunding my money.

That's a valid point and completely understandable. But why should I care? Canadian retailers are selling themselves. US monopoly is inevitable. And im not going to spend more so that sone rich guy, albeit canadian, can get richer and eventually sell out and spend the rest of his life sipping mohitos somewhere ona beach while im here working my ass off.

short-sighted much? 'sell out' - sell out to whom?

Feel bad? Tip the guys helping you test "fit" $20 for their 30 minutes of attending to you--only for you to order and save $100+.

Seems fair?

Once Amazon Prime starts carrying more stuff, I'll never have to leave my shitter and get all my shopping done, paid for, and delivered in 3 days for free.
