Gonna ship the Burgman to Australia when I move there but last time was frustrated - fantastic roads, no ride :(

Browsing the ads and up pops a KLR-650 nicely kitted out at the right price and 5 minutes from my GF house.

Guy about the same age as me used it as a commuter.

One stop flight from Toronto and you can be riding again.
Finally get some use of the spare gear around here.

Enjoy the trip.. But Becareful - they have lots of speed cameras there! People usually stick to posted limit on the highways. I will do my write up and photos soon about my trip.

Yeah- gonna take it easy as driving on the other side is not exactly a deep skill of mine ( done it once 30 years ago )

Dreading the roundabouts.

Lucky Cairns and area is lightly populated and I'll ride off hours anyway.
Thanks for tip.

Lucky man! Don't worry about driving on the other side. When we went to NZ it didn't take long to get the hang of it. And roundabouts rock! Wish we had more of them here.

it will take you 2-3 days tops to get used to roundabouts and driving on the other side of the road. . .

then you will get angry wondering why we don't have more roundabouts here in canada

Good to meet you today Mac Doc! excellent set up since '85 ! and here I've been riding the same roads, seen the Burg at the Shed, the Ice house etc. I was only in Aus a year... Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth,, Cairns, Whitsunday Islands, Taz...they ALL have great roads and you can ride that KLR right across the Outback to Ayers rock/Uhlarhu or THE BIG ONE on my bucket list... the One Lap of Australia!
Have a great trip.

Thanks - that was hilarious meet up today.
Looking forward to riding there and yeah we know about the heat.
Taking my mesh jacket and lighter boots and gloves plus the breathable rain suit....I'd cook in my iCon.

There is a Burgman 650 rider on the Burgman site that did that big loop on his - never a single breakdown of any sort - some 26k - good read.

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!

Can I come?

Sure $2200 and your're there.....some sweet mcycles to rent as well.

Shed will do just fine.....they will be open by the time I get back....my $10 a day a couple days a week not a make or break for that place....do miss the pretty girls tho... :D

LOL When I lived in Japan there were more than a couple of times I automatically drove in the right side of the road, only to remember at the last minute to stay on the left side of the road. The locals do not like it when foreigners try to change the way they drive!

Be forewarned that in the early morning when you are on autopilot you MIGHT forget to drive on the left side of the road.

Hell my life almost ended early- started to step out into a "clear" road in England first time.....biz partner yanked me back from wall of taxis bearing down.
Really do have to think about it sometimes - South Africa was the same - even walking hath its perils.
I'll tough it out ;)
