GTAM Member review/feedback

This is exactly why I sell through eBay. It's worth the percentage they take in the long run. You can sell locally for local pickup. It weeds out the losers and kijidiots.

I tried giving a nearly new couch away, brand new was $800 (I didn't pay that). It was about a year old, no space for it doing renovations.
Put it up on kijiji and let the fun ensue. Requests to help carry it 2km, can you deliver, can you hold it for 2 weeks...?
Only some dude with no English had the wherewithal to show up in a van with 2 kids to help load it, all done 4 hours after posting.
This is how he did it:
1. He calls..
HIM: "Hello... free couch?"
ME: "yes"
HIM: "text? I no English"
ME: "ok"
2. Text convo:
HIM: "Bed bugs"
ME: "no"
HIM: "address"
ME: -address-
HIM: "1 hour, i get zipvan"
ME: "ok"
3. 1/2 hour later he knocks at door....
4. He is pleased as punch.
5. Meanwhile, I'm getting text to hell with "lowballs" on something that I'm giving away for nothing.

Ad said $75 and you lowballed at $50. Pff. I wouldve just walked away and even if you did come up for full asking I'd say the price is now $90 ******.

I currently have some extra gear in almost new shape (joe rocket) that i've upgraded to something else. Probably $300-$400 in stuff. I can't even be bothered with kijiji. I did try a jacket. Joe Rocket radar leather hybrid. $300us ebay. Wore twice? Asking $200. Some guy offered $160 and I said nope.. $200. Goes on how I made him waste his gas. I said the item is for sale at $200 firm (ad even said it). Somehow he found $40 in his car. By then I said the item is no longer for sale, thanked him for wasting my time in trying to screw me; and closed the garage door. Item currently sits in garage on a hook. Can't even be bothered to deal with the lowballers.

If you agree on a firm price and the item is as described it's pisses me off as well if they try to lowball you when they come for the item. I never deliver items anymore either.

I live by finch / islington, I told him id be at seneca and he was by kennedy / 401. I asked if we could meet at seneca because I was headed there. We did not agree on a price before meeting, nor did I want to make a blind offer over the phone. I dont believe $70 was a lowball offer.. he was asking $75 for it. he said no and put the jacket back in his car.. then I said "well thanks anyways" and left, theres two sides to this story and you can believe whoever you want.

On another note, I dont want a bad name on here... nor do I want to hold grudges and what not.

Thanks for the efforts CBC

Lol i was at kennedy and 401 when you texted me and asked if i can deliver today cuz you had your test... I drove back home to oshawa picked up the jacket and brought it to you

I've done the same thing. More people need to do this to send these guys the message.

moral of the story...don't deliver. too much leverage given to a potential (crappy) buyer.

khan450, don't bs your way out of this one. When someone says i'll "take the jacket", it means you agree to the asking price, without negotiation. Arguing against this makes you look like a crook.

Khan450 you should interac cbcanada some money to cover gas for driving to Oshawa, back to Scarborough and then back to Oshawa again. Gas isn't free.

You say you don't want problems? Ok, send him $30. I think that is fair although it might be seen as low by some others due to the amount of time involved with multiple trips.

I live in Oshawa. It's a 40+ minute drive to Kennedy and 401 one way.

Dont go out and give people a bad name, Calm ur anger as well.
No where on the ad does it say "$75 firm"... youre way older than me and telling me ur going to knock me?
act your age.
I came up to $70, you were asking $75. control your anger

Your sense of entitlement is laughable... kids these days...
Common courtesy is dead.

edit: I actually like this idea of feedback on members (buyer/seller)
CBC, your idea got my vote!

Honestly If he told me i need the jacket i have $50 and i have a test tomorrow IN ADVANCE i would say yes come get it.. Atleast tell me before hand..

He thought since i drove so far he can pigeon hole me cuz i would want to get get something for my trip to make it worth while.

But if you ask me to bring this to you and i do out of courtesy and You tell me $50 then 60 then 70...Then you come up here and got the balls to say "hey i came up to $70"

Lol wtf is that $5 gona get you? A cup of coffee and a bagel?

But like some one said the sense of entitlement thing

I wasted 2 hours of my day but lesson learned. Never deliver anything again

On a positive note i bought 4-5 things from members here and everything was good

I sold a member a jacket before and he gave me more then i asked cuz he said it was worth it!!

I too have been very fortunate so far on here. Mind you I try to deal with people that are active on the site.

me too.. though I had one bad buyer on ebay, most of the time its been good. Sold Motorcycle parts and other stuff worldwide. Only problem is the cost of shipping from Canada makes it tough to compete on ebay with US sellers. Sometimes I have also given some good stuff to charity or homeless people. (ie. Quality Winter Jackets).
