Grips for Comfort and Safety!

Hey All, I recently decided to replace the grips on my 1990 VTR250 because the rubber was old and stretched out and rubbing again another part so my throttle return was slowed.

I order these grips online off ebay and when they arrived I found that there were thin and flimsy plastic what will definitely break with a little use. aside from that the pieces turn independently, not sure I could even twist the throttle with these!!!

Where do you buy your grips? anything Cost efficient you'd recommend?
I Just was to replace with something decent.

I also have some loctite to get past before I remove the grips, bar end screws and red loctited in!

When I replaced my grips a few years ago, I bought gel motocross grips from my local motorcycle dealer. The gel made a slight difference to lessen the high frequency vibrations I was feeling through the handlebars.

I used compressed air to remove and install the new grips. To remove, use a small air nozzle, stick it under the rubber and pull the trigger while pulling on the grip - the air should inflate the grip a little so that it slides off fairly easily. To install the new grip, put a bit of water onto the end to get it on the bar, then stick the nozzle under the rubber, pull the trigger and push the new grip into place. (Make sure you are wearing appropriate protective gear such as safety glasses, etc. when you are using compressed air.)
 
An impact driver works well to get by the loctite. Don't use an impact drill, use a regular impact driver that you tap with a hammer to break the bar ends loose. I have used wd40 to get the new grips on, it evaporates quickly, no residue.
 
To put grips on I've always used Purell or similar hand sanitizers. Evaporates quickly but lubricates long enough to slip the new grips on.

I just used isopropanol alcohol. It helped to slightly 'undo' adhesive under old grips, then I cleaned the clip-on/throttle tube, then slid the new grips on.
