I remember at the course they said to be ready to hop off bike if a car was coming towards you and it looked like it wouldn't stop (from the side) I always thought about that and how bad it would look if you did hop off, bike falls over and car stops with plenty of clearance. Be embarrassing, but better to stay alive I guess

That's an amazingly horrible advice, since you should be easily able to ride form the car's path if you see it from so far away.
