I got rear-ended at a stop sign a few days ago by a 1934 born dude. I am religious when it comes to stop signs as I think that it is the stupidest way to spend points (aka insurance hike), but this is my prize apparently =(

We tried for half hour to dismount the bike off the car, but his car was just sitting on my rear wheel so it wasn't possible. He had to roll back to get off at the end.

No serious damage, but def hurts inside.

Sucks - you alright? Pretty clear case of who's at fault - hope things get fixed up quick.

Hope you reported that to the police + insurance and had your bike inspected, it could be damaged in a way that you can't see easily at the roadside.
 
Call me paranoid but I'd be having the bike checked out anyways. Hopefully you're alright is the important part though.
 
That freakin sucks....good thing you came out alright. This is a good reason why investment on a good bad protector is a must.
 
Aaah, so thats why the bottom of your plate was folded on the bottom bit. I parked beside you the past 2 days and was like.. "Did he do that on purpose...?"

But Seriously, I hope your okay. Your Subframe is Prob bent, so your bike is most likely a write off.
 
no lie, nothing scares me more in the mirror than somebody that looks 70+ years old
 
thats why when I stop at a red light, I try to position my bike between 2 lanes of traffic, or just to the right side of the car in front. This way if I do get rear ended, no pancake! and to the right if 1 lane, so I dont get pushed into oncoming traffic. Watch Your Mirrors when your stopped!

Subframes are generally a bolt on item why would that cause a write off? They are not that expensive.

I hope he loses his license. Certain old people should NOT be driving.
 
I got rear-ended last year and the damage didn't look like much at all at first but the cost of replacement parts and labour probably ended up being $5k covered by the other guy's insurance company. I am sure that a lot of the parts that got replaced probably still had life left in them but you don't want to mess around. I'd be getting everything, even if just scratched replaced. Given the circumstance, I think most shops will take a replace first approach to repairing your bike. And I hope you aren't riding around on that rear tire, that would be the first thing that needs replacing.

To add, if you have his insurance info, pretty sure you can claim for an entirely new tire (rim included). Rims are expensive, might as well get another one.

Good tip. I just stay in blocking position and keep monitoring my mirrors, but it's probably not enough.

Thing is, it's not uncommon for drivers, who clearly don't know about blocking, to gesture for me to ride in the centre of the lane.
