Good shop to rebuild a gsxr750 motor?

GSXR750 but the engine is making a lot of crappy sounds.
lets go with best case it needs valve adjustments, maybe cam chain and timing adjusted.
she has about 45km on her, ide like to get it fixed properly because ill be selling it to a friend if hes interested still, and if not it will be going up for sale and even then i want to know im selling something without issues.

worst case full rebuild, in which case where should i go and what can i expect to pay for a rebuild?
 
I would think Z1 Cycletech has as much experience with those motors as any shop. Wouldn't have a clue as to cost.....call up Glen or Zaid for a chat.

@45k, it likely needs valve service, perhaps a new cam chain/tensioner. Unlikely you need a full rebuild.

just looking at worst case cost incase tey get into her and see some issues. it sounds horrible at idle.

but yer right, most likely valve shims and cam chain tension

Check easy stuff like compression. Sounds like the tensioner.

damn. + valve guides, plus machining. You'd have to have the cam chain break and smash the pistons into the valves, in which case, a lot more money. Cheaper to find an engine at a wrecker.

It will vary widely depending on what's needed.

It's pretty likely that the original poster's engine does not need a "full rebuild" but more likely just setting the valve clearances and maybe a new cam chain tensioner. That will be a few hundred bucks.

If it really does need piston rings and bottom-end bearings and valve stem seals and valve seats re-cut and new valves (titanium valves cannot be re-faced) it will be into the thousands, more than the bike is worth and certainly more than what it would cost to get another engine.

But unless it's an oil-burner and a hard-starter ... that is extremely unlikely.

All Ti valves, or just the nitride-coated ones?
 
I just talked to riders choice today, they are going to take a look at it for me but based on what ive told them they think its the cam chain tensioner. Recomended a manual one and would be about 200 parts and labor...which isnt all that bad.
I was also told a rebuild wouldnt be worth it, cost would be insane.
