I hit something like that late at night with my old Mercedes diesel - it felt like a chunk of railroad rail.....right front actually went off the ground - bloody hellish noise and a 4" dent in the alloy rim
Never did find out what it was and never did see it.
Good for you keeping it under control. Sometimes it amazes me what modern tires will take.

Actually I lied - I rode up the 410 again trying to figure where it was - no clues - easy ride - surprising busy but not as frenetic as yesterday
Kinda nice- thought it was cooler so over dressed on the way up. Warm now.
