It's all fun and games until you're putting the lotion back in the bucket. ;)

This made me chuckle a lot.

But seriously, I'd like to ride to places like this, I'm in!

C'mon man, a bunch of guys dressed in full gear wandering around abandoned sites, would scare Dr. Lecter... well maybe not him, but you get the point ;)

Always enjoyed things like this. I'd be in for a ride to check some stuff out. Weekend trip to pa with a stop in Centralia anyone? :dontknow:

Yes you could get charged with trespassing, if you explain you were just looking around, be polite and tell them you'll leave immediately you might be fine. I encountered the rent a cops back in the day at Whitby Psych before the place was razed.

Someone earlier mentioned a radar site, I think that was bulldozed. A lot of the bigger places are being demolished now. Kennedy Youth Detention Center was incredibly creepy but is gone now as well. It was opened in the '50s and was for youth detention, it had these small lock down rooms with big metal doors and a tiny window with steel bedframes inside bolted to the floor. Had an eerie looking chapel too:

It's a shame it's decaying into nothingness.

"Why Canada? Canada was chosen because it was far away from the fighting, the fear was that if England was ever invaded that any POW's there would end up right back in the middle of the worst fighting so putting them in Canada made sure that wouldn't happen."

Yeh, I just read up on it. The Germans actually sent U-boats up the St Lawrence river, kind of interesting they were right here in our own back yards.

On another note, nothing says creepy as exploring an abandoned Mental Institution. Mental wards give me the creeps, even with patients!

I would love to go on this ride with you guys if it happens

I think one of us needs to pick a weird/cool place and post up a date. If anyone has a good idea, post it up. It doesn't mean you have to lead if anyone is nervous about that, there's lots of people who can lead a route, we just need a destination.

I was actually thinking of the long weekend. Maybe check out the radar school in Clinton. Since its going to be our first time, we have to be patient with the leader. Plus we don't know if we'll be infringing on private property.

After Clinton, it would a short ride north to see the Goderich Gaol, very old/cool. It has the dubious distinction of having housed Steven Truscott back in the day, poor bastard.
Another fun ride would be east to Tweed, could see Canada's smallest jail.
