Very inspiring thread.

Okay, so here's my little story. Decided at the age of 50 to learn to ride - always been very athletic - have played most sports and worked out in gym 5 or 6 days a week since I was 18. Bought a BMW F800. Liked it. Rode it for a year. Wanted more power and to tour a bit. Sold F800. Bought K1200s. Rode that for a year. Liked that. Went to FAST at Shannonville to see what that was about. Liked it. Went back. Went to California Superbike School at 52 - second year of riding. Liked that and was pretty fast. Decided wanted to learn to race. Start of year three - at 53 - went to Penguin Racing School at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as last school hopefully before taking up racing somehow. Crashed on a wet track trying to hang with guys way better than me. Broke collar bone (into fragments), broke 7 ribs (two in two places - so had "floaters"), punctured and collapsed lung (pierced by one of the broken ribs), concussion, vertigo (dizzy spells for three months), herniated disc in neck with permanent nerve damage to left pec, arm, and back (so much weaker, permanently, on that side of body) and ten days in hospital in U.S. and Canada. Was back in gym after 8 weeks (trying to build up lost strength) and on bike in 12 (after vertigo mostly went away). Lost most of the year recovering but sold BMW and bought GSXR 750 when got back on. Hope to race next year (at 54-55).
I'm not giving up until somebody makes me. It's just way too much fun.
(Rode with you and Sempre, Pearlzzz, up north a few weeks ago. That was a blast. Hope to do it again. Also hope this thread doesn't mean that you had a fall. If so, I hope you're okay and that these posts help!)
Had a head on with an SUV on July 17th, 2011. Compound fracture to the middle of my left femur, broke my left femur at the hip joint, and broke my right radius:

While I was still in the hospital my GF got her new bike and rode it to come see me. Also, tons of other GTAM riders rode to the hospital to see me. It hurt seeing all of them with helmets and in gear, I wanted to get riding again asap!
As soon as my arm was out of the cast I started doing wheelies in my wheelchair. The day after the Doc said I was allowed to put 25% weight on my leg, I got on and rode my new bike for the first time!!
I can't walk, but I can ride!

Because my probation ended on Nov 1st I'm now legally allowed to answer that question. All lies aside, which is more fun, guns or bikes??

It's really a toss up. Guns are powerful, accurate. So are bikes. The media/public hate both of them (guns a little more probably). If you mess around with either too much you'll loose your license. The only thing I REALLY liked about guns was pushing the governments buttons. They didn't want me to have it? I bought 10. They thought it was to evil? I bought 20.
I dunno man. Less hassle and paperwork with a bike, so that gets my vote. It's kinda a buzz kill when peeps are trying to make all the cool crap you own illegal all the time.

Best "carry" gun by far, Para Ord Tac Four. Shortest legally available barrel in Canada, 10 rounds of .45 ACP +P Jacketed Hollow Point "Cop Killer" bullets. She's little, but packs a BIG punch.
