Gear Advice?

I just bought the Naked jacket and it is an awesome jacket, for 150 you can't go wrong. Not sure what size you are and if there is anything left for your size

I have the Naked jacket too. but wore my mesh today.
Good buy. I paid over twice that a few years ago.

The naked jacket is gorgeous. I haven't bought a suit in about a year so I'm not 100% sure about my size. I'm a fairly lean dude at 170lb 5'9-5'10, wide shoulders. I can probably got to the store and get sized right?
edit: I wear medium t-shirts/jackets/etc from most places. I think 44 sounds about right, rings a bell like I've bought something in that size before

I was wondering what the original price was, is it holding up well? How do you like it?

I bet the 44 will fit you, it is really tight fit with long arms.

Call Jimmy and go see it ASAP, they will sell fast.

check the date on the helmets.

hahahahahahahaha....shorts and MX boots.

Did you know they wear those gear at the track in Taiwan? Yes i mean road course track. Im not even joking. Those armour vests are like the best protection they have there.

Those armored shirts are better joint protection than most armored jackets and are a "must wear" in hot conditions.

We take the elbow and shoulder armor out of our jackets and use the mesh armor as it fits to the joint.
Gets hot ....we lose the jackets.

The motocross crowd knows a thing or two about "come offs" and light comfortable protection that works.

Should I consider purchasing it, especially considering that its only $70?

Have not seen for $70 but the Thor or Fox ( same thing ) is about $100.

I wear the knee armor as well under a variety of riding pants. I'm really not fond of armored pants tho I have a mesh pair I use with the knee armor at times.

it works too...

that would have been my knee instead of the armor with the gouges..

You still need a jacket - for ballistic and weather.

I bought my mesh Joe Rocket on Kiji years ago for $50 ...still going strong.

Whatever you do.....get some Hi-viz gear especially rain gear...be seen.

I like a layered approach.
Synthetics, pants and shirt, armored shirt, mesh jacket and then a truly water proof rain jacket

for warmth and viz. Packs small. Works. From iCon.

Thanks. If I purchase the body armor and wear a regular jacket over it in cool days, will that work? And can the knee armor be worn over jeans?
EDIT: I think I'll purchase a high viz rain jacket for sure since I was going black on all gear, color preference. I'll also consider body armor if I wear a jacket that I can't wear the high viz rain jacket over

You can wear them over jeans but looks weird and not protect as well. The idea is that pants move around on a fall and the armor stays over the joint.
Same with the mesh armor shirt under a jacket.

The knee armor fits under most jeans. Kid wears his heavier duty knee armor over his riding pants tho. It looks like it's part of the pant tho.

The body armor is good impact protection ....better than most jackets as it has a full chest plate and rigid spine protection.
The jacket is for ballistic protection ( sliding ).
I'd look for a used motorcycle jacket as it has the cuffs etc for riding.

Other key protection is hands and ankles - used is good - I finally sprang for a pair of expensive riding boots after 50 years of going without but they serve multiple riding purposes...off pavement and on and are waterproof but breathe.

Don't go over board on gear until you know you like the sport and I'm not a follower of expensive helmets.

Mine is $150 and I love the flexble design.
AFX-55. There is a review on here....if you've got free approved helmets that fit...go for it.

I'm not sure if they'd let you wear only the mesh armour on the course. You'd have to ask one of the senior guys there. The only people I've seen wearing one had a proper jacket over top.
You can do the course in a jean jacket and proper jeans (no rips or tears), but make sure you have rain protection in any case, and a spare pair of jeans.

For a helmet a full face is better, just in case you ever land on your face. White is the best colour. I bought an HJC (Snell compliant) for $80 at a show, for my first helmet.

For the course the main thing about the gloves is leather palms. Even if you fall when walking you can get some nasty scrapes on you hands. I like gauntlets, because I've had bugs get scooped up my sleeves, and wasps get really nasty by the time they hit your armpits.

My current boots were $30 Walmart, regular toe workboots, that I waterproofed with snow seal, and put my custom insoles in, but I need to walk around a lot. Racing boots aren't designed to walk around in, mine are brutal on the shins when trying to walk any distance.

Most people accumulate gear over time and find what works for them. Also, keep in mind that gear will eventually wear out, and you'll have to replace it.

When I first started I used a textile jacket borrowed from a friend. I also purchased a helmet, and riding boots that we're on sale from the show. And bought a pair of used gloves from a friend. That's what I wore to the course/test.

After the course, I figured out that I wanted to get into the sport and then started to slowly gather my gear. And I currently only wear Dainese due to the fact that it's the only thing that fits me. And I also got an RPHA10 as my daily helmet. Probably the best bang for buck helmet that you can find. (MotoGP helmet so it's made for sport bike style riding.)

at at first I purchased the leather jacket and the back protector. Wore jeans at the time being. Then the RPHA10 helmet. And then I purchased the leather pants and out boots to go with it. Then better gloves. This took all of last season and all winter to accumulate. Unless you have $2-3k on gear, take your time and don't rush. Like they say, "but right or buy twice."

Where can I buy the Thor body armor for $100? It is $150 every I look.

I'll try the gear out in person to make sure it fits my body type, and buy knee guards until I can find decent fitting kevlar jeans. I'm sure bike shops have a return policy if I walk outside in a set of gear and instantly break into a sweat lmao. Also I see your username says Guelph, is that where you ride? I will be riding and living in Guelph this summer as well!

I'm in the Guelph area. Pm me if you want to ride sometime......
