I think you meant the one on the right. Thats mine. Usually if im on the right side of the pole im ok. Today I had to put the bike on the centre stand just to make it look further from the hydrant.
The other veefer is too close, it will probably attract the PEO's attention.
Look at the curb there is a yellow line. Although it is getting erased slowly you can see it. It runs to the pole on the right in the picture. One guy on the right is definitely in a bad spot, second guy will probably get a ticket to meet the quota, other two are fine.
Ticket will be the least of your worries if Toronto Fire needs to hook up to that hydrant. They've been known to climb over cars or whack them with hydrant wrenches when parked too close and I'm sure they aren't going to be too worried about bumping into an illegally parked bike and knocking it over while trying to do their job.
Usually if there's a big gap, he doesn't tag them, because i don't think he actually measures. I got a ticket once - it's possible I was within 3m, but it wouldn't have been a lot. I think what attracted the attention was that the entire gap between me and the bike on the other side got filled up - guess who was right in the middle, almost directly in line with the hydrant. Yep. The MP3 Scooter.
