For Those Who Havent Seen It Yet

This one wasn't nearly as entertaining to me as the first one.

Probably because McGregor thought it would be a good idea to have his complete newb of a wife ride part of the route with them, falling off the bike every 10 feet on dusty roads.

The first one certainly had more colourful characters, e.g. staying at the house of the cop's friend (don't want give out any spoilers).

I love these shows. Thanks for posting them here as I don't have them on DVD yet!!! :D

Agreed. Those episodes were annoying.

Still though, great shows. Definitely worth watching.

After watching The Long Way Round I bought the illustrated book... Amazing.

Long way down... not so much.

Great series. There's a thread on here somewhere stating that they just filmed another one, and came through Toronto in July/August. Don't know if Ewan was aboard tho. Maybe 'cause he couldn't bring his wife. Definitely was not thought out well in the second one. Rides like this are no place for newbs. You could see Charlie was clearly ****** off. Would have been cool to see some GTA riders meet and ride through Toronto with Charlie on his latest adventure!

I'll need to check this out when I get home.

The Harley dealer in Kingston rented a bus to take people to the TO bike show several years ago; during the trip they played the Long Way Round on the VCR and the wife and I were hooked. Then we get to the show and wandered by the food court - and there was Charlie Boorman sitting at a table having tea and a sandwich. We chatted with him and got his autograph, he was very pleasant to talk to and our conversation ended only when he had to head over to the sound stage for his live interview with David Hatch. The wife and I bought the book and borrowed the entire DVD series from a friend and have been fans ever since. And, yes, the Down series could have benefitted from NOT having Mrs McGregor doing her Jerry Lewis routine on her bike, but that's why the DVD player has a "FF" button.

That was just Charlie. And it was not a "Long Way" show, but a different motorcycling series. I think riding across Canada might be a bit boring compared to the Road of Bones or just simply moving down through Africa

Some people on ADVrider met up with him in BC for a portion of it, not sure when the video comes out.

Probably the same thing Ewan and Charlie were thinking in the Round series when they were traveling south through Alberta... and we all know what happened there.

I'm hoping they release these on Blu-ray. I have the DVDs but the blu-rays would be absolutely stunning (assuming they filmed in HD in the first place)

Long Way Round gave me the inspiration to ride my own adventures. Thanks for the links.

Charlie did this too, race to Dakar,

I Think we rode passed them!

For those who went on the GTAM ride to ESSA Gun Range in June, I recall passing two BMW bikes that looked like the ones Ewan + Charlie had on Long Way Down. And following behind them was a large SUV stuffed to the brim. I also recall they would be passing through around the same time.

Could it be?

If so, perhaps they got us on film =D Only one way to find out...

WE GONNA BE ON THE TV BOX! (Cletus Spuckler accent, Simpsons)

Ewan didnt do the cross Canada ride, just Charlie. So most likely him and a camera man on the support bike (Claudio?).
