Has anyone done this tear down and replacement?
Any suggestions or guidelines?
thanks Rob

Yup. Engine has to come out and you have to split the crankcases. You can do that engine upside down on the bench so that the top-end doesn't have to come apart. Just make sure the crankshaft (and pistons and rings) stays put in the upper crankcase when you take the bottom case off the upper case.

They were suposed to have fixed this on the 1985 and on.
I have never had an issue with mine (1986) but a guy I work with is doing it on his bike this weekend.
Engine out. Dropping off the lower casing. the lower section can be quite a pig to get apart and the motor is a heavy mother.
I have the full manuals, if you need info I can loan them to you.

Good luck
Brit Biker.
