First Ride Day - 2019

had been out for a few brief rides in this year
today was the first really of any distance

around 400 km from 1PM until dinner time
north out of Belleville up #37
then jogged over to #41 and up to #28

a bit west on #28 then up #514 to Combermere
took care of some business there then down #62 back home

not a big ride by any means
but was nice to burn off the stabilized 91
that had maybe 80 octane left in it, and get some fresh gas flowing

a few minor concerns:

part way up #41
Coco Paving was drawing water out of a creek
water truck parked in the west lane
6 inch water hose that leaked like @#$@ stretched across the east lane
nothing for a cage, but could be a bummer for a rider not paying attention

close encounter with a baby bambi that was trying to get itself killed

was reminded how dreadful the economy is in rural eastern Ontario
most restaurants boarded up or not open for the day
very few gas stations open - even though Easter Monday is not a holiday

need more brown people out here that like to stay open and earn a few $$
rural whiskey-tango don't like to work
they'd rather ride quads on public roads dressed in hunting sh*t

A good detour off 41 is over to the River bakery and cafe at Tamworth. He has Moto specific parking and homemade good food. His jerk patties are pretty good.

I love that area and ride it often.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll check out spot in Tamworth (I usually turn off beforehand and take Flinton Rd to head back home).

It's a good meet-up point for a fair few rides. Arden Rd to Highway 7 is a good one, Mountain Rd to Parham is another and if you have knobbies or a bit more suspension travel there's a bunch of trails off Mountain Rd.

Added to my future daytrip list. Any idea on the condition of Long Lake Rd north out of Parham? That could make a good loop.

Not sure. To be honest I’ve been out of country and then had flu for a bit. April has been a wash. Still need to get the bike out to really blow the dust off. I like that road though so I’ll head out soon for a look see.
