Why the rush for the full M?

The only difference between the M2 and the M is a 0% blood alcohol content while riding. I don't believe there are any significant insurance discounts between M2 and M, at least not with the company I was insured with. And of course, no restriction on the kinds of motorcycles you can buy between M2 and M.

Maybe some dealerships won't let you test-ride a bigger bike without a full M. That's all I can think of.

You can get an M2 60 days after you pass your M1 written test.

I think all insurers willing to underwrite SS, which the OP wants, require an M license.

Man the system here in Canada is so strange. I'm glad I got it in the states back in the day cause it just transferred right over.

My wife has the first level one through learning curves and will get the second level one from them as well.

Must have changed. I was with State Farm, had several literbikes while on a M2. Got my M, no change in premiums...

Those days are long gone. I don't even think SF underwrites SS anymore. Desjardin bought them out in 2015, IIRC.
