Hey all.
So this ride started Wed.
I'm working in Claymont DE and blazed my way to Winchester VA
Pretty uneventful except to say I had diner at Golden Corral and it was amazingly good.
Thursday....
I made my way south.
I didn't take the Skyline but the roads beside it.
I'll post a route later.
Once past the Skyline around #56 I took the BRP.
56 is a great road and one of my best hidden gems.
I then took the BRP down to Roanoke and spent the night in Salem.
To me this is the best time of year to ride the BRP.
The colors are at there peek and very little traffic.

absolutely stunning fall day ....mid teens now and heading to 22 - have to check out 56

33 i proving very nice and looking to be better - nothing technical just fine mix of Virginia scenery - rolling hills, forests and very little traffic....much better than the race track 64 to the south.

I'm in Paint Bank VA enjoying a coffee.
Gonna try to post some pics.
These are from Thursdays ride.
Found a great little Bar BQ joint on 151

Did you stop at the vintage Texaco gas station that has a great restaurant built in behind it.?

Spent 3 hours there sitting out a thunder storm and enjoyed a nice dinner a few years back and then rode up 311 at dusk.

Nice Photos

Not sure about the Texaco station...dont remember seeing it.
I'm holed up in Petersburg WV for the night.
Great ride up.
You can really see the color change from VA to WV.
Really patting myself on the back for picking these last few days to go on a trip.
The weather has been simply amazing and I couldn't ask for better.
Hoping for the same tomorrow as I head back to DE.
Took some great pics today...will try to post later.

yup its still there and just as beautiful

what a fantastic fall day..ended up in Altoona ....reminder to self- put long johns in the morning - nippy last hour

Figured I post this during the rain delay
Diner tonight just up the road.
Buck a beer....wow.

Altoona was a smart move on your part Mac.
Stay dry my friend.

so far so good.....9 degrees in Bedford PA and no rain ...was lovely ride for the first hour tho chilly - pink dawn.

might slip through this gap
Buffalo is top right and I'm due south

240 Chilly miles to cover to Buffalo tho temps are coming up. Chilly feet - rest of me is okay ...heated gloves the treat.

Feel like dipping my toes in my hot tea. :D

Hey all I'm back.
I got back yesterday afternoon.
Here is a recap of the trip.
I left Winchester VA Thursday morning and made my way to Salem VA.
Here is the route.

The 678 / 675 is a great alternate to the Skyline and theirs a wonderful pull off on the 675
Theres a great Bar BQ joint on the 151.
Now this place is quite the dive but the girls were good looking and the food was fantastic.
Blue Ridge Pig.
The 56 is one of my favorite roads and worth checking out if ever in the area.
I took it to Vesuvius and back to the BRP.
I then took the BRP all the way to Roanoke and then to Salem.
The BRP was full of color with little traffic.
Salem is a great place to spend the night with an abundance of rooms and food.

Friday I woke up and planned this route for the day.

The 311 is a wonderful ride and theres a great pull off all though hidden.
Point Bank is a great rest stop for food / drink and free wifi.
The 18 is a great twisty road and then I took the 220 with a stop at the waterfall.
Its a simple way up to Petersburg WV but a wonderful ride up.
I like Petersburg as theirs a great little mom / pop that I stay at and a great place for food / drink.

Saturday I woke up and this was the planned route for the day.

Once i reached the interstate I would just blaze home from there.
The 220 is a lovely ride up north of Pertersburg.
The 51 / 9 are both very challenging with some wonderful pull offs for picture taking.
They are a wide mix off tight twisty / sweeping curve / farmland country.
By the time I reached the interstate the sun hid behind some clouds so I found it best to just blaze back to Wilmington.

This was a great trip and I cant wait to go back to this area.
Here are a bunch of random pics that i missed posting while on the road.
Enjoy.

I like to call this "The queen and her Castle"
