Durham College M2 Course

Now that would suck.

You have a day and a half to drop the bike and not have it count against you. The only time you would fail if you drop the bike during the actual test.
I recall one girl who was killing it the whole weekend, never dropped the bike, did every exercise properly and at test time she had a panic moment and dropped the bike... sucks!

Ouch!

You really need to get a bike so you can plant two feet firmly on the ground, but that could be a problem if you are short. I suspect they have smaller bikes anyway. A TW200 would be perfect for me, since I have one.

That exact same thing happened to someone in my class as well. It was quite painful to watch since I was next in line to start my test right after watching her drop the bike a few feet away in front of me. I had the chance to have a heart-to-heart chat with her afterwards and she said it was definitely nerves that overcame her. She was by far the strongest rider in our group and I'm pretty sure that she passed the retest with flying colours.

Yeah she was like 5 feet tops riding a CBR125R so that might have played a factor. They had a few Virago 250s there as well, although I think they might have been all taken. I saw that her handlebars weren't straightened out when she came to a complete stop so the bikes weight naturally leaned over from being unbalanced.

I hope that I will be able to reach the ground properly too. I'm 5 foot one, but my inseam is 31 inches...same as my 5'8" hubby, lol.My prob is the weight. Rod can flat foot because he is almost twice my weight and can lower the seat by size alone :).I'm riding our tw200 now. Have sat on a cbr125 and find it nicely balanced. But if I can get some good practice on the tw before the course it would be even better!

The bikes are generally suited for smaller/shorter people...

I'm 6'6 and Fat this what i felt like on the little 125 when i did the course...

Well, another day under my belt. Today was very physical because the morning was spent pushing bikes. It was rather hot today as well, so that didn't help. In the afternoon things got more fun, actual driving the bike. Almost everyone did very well, even rookies, except for one lady. The bike fell on her and she ended up at Ajax hospital. I hope she's ok.The instructors are excellent, most are relaxed and easy going, but they do except you to listen and so as you're told.Tomorrow (final day) should be even for fun, but an even longer day as I'm told. It's supposed to be cooler tomorrow, I hope that's the case.

Hope she's not too badly hurt. Tomorrow is the big day, you get to walk out with our m2 if all goes well.
Just get some rest cause you'll be a little sore in the morning...

appreciate the nice weather...

I took my course in April this year

that day it was cold, hail, fog, rain and snow... everything but sun & warm...

lots of fun in a beanie helmet...

Sounds like a woman on my street. She fractured a rib and has a few bumps and bruises. She will be okay but has decided riding a motorcycle is not for her and she will stick to being a passenger. I think she is happy knowing she had the courage to try something new but the sense to know her limitations.

I passed, I even have a certificate to prove it ;) I somehow managed to pull off a perfect score, which I really didn't think I'd pull off. Because when I started on Sat., I was all over the controls, bad habits from my dirt bike days. Another one was when stopped I learned to my right side, left foot on gear lever. But the course taught me to break them. It really was eye opening! All the knowledge, suggestions, advice and pointer from the instructors were extremely helpful. Not only when doing the practical stuff, but classroom stuff as well. They even discussed some of their own personal experiences. What a fun, but exhausting weekend. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Now I just have to drop the envelope to the MTO office and I'm M2 ready.

Thanks.

Next up is my wife. If all goes well, she's going to take the course next month. She will have a big heads up though. I'll have lots of pointers for her :) Which will hopefully help out a lot. Also, which instructors are very easy going and which are not so much. LOL Speaking of instructors, a few of my favorites were Don, Chris & Howard, but they were all fair and great.

That's great to hear! Congrats!

Welcome to the newly-acquired M2 club. :)
