Durham College M2 Course

I have my M1 but took the course at Durham College. Passed and just waiting to hand in my paperwork an receive my M2. As mentioned on another post 'the cost of this course pays for itself on the 1st day'Great bunch of instructors and they will guide you through with confidence. No written test and two days of great practical work. Enjoy pushing the bikes :) saying no more.

I did my M1X course with Durham college. I really, really enjoyed it... never thought a dirt bike could be so much fun.
A great bunch of instructors, very helpful and friendly and will provide good feedback. I am sure you will enjoy it just as much.

I did my M1X through CMA (closer to home)

ANy course is worth it, they will teach you / help you brush up on any skills you might not know/forgotten

look at it as an investment in your personal safety

spend the $$ and never look back

I did the M1exit at Durham in June.
The instructors are good, easy to talk to, and will take the time to explain things. They kept us going through the execises until we could do them properly and at the speeds they were looking for.
When it came to the final test, it was nothing like I was expecting. I think they were watching us go through the exercizes (slalom, etc) and marked us accordingly.

I'm really pleased I took the course, and I'm sure I know a lot more now than going in.

Definately take it. The lightbulb that went on during the 'push steering' segment as to why I was having such trouble cornering at speed was worth the whole course.

It is a good course along with a good group of instructors. If they still have the Yamaha TW200 for training it is a fun bike to ride. Enjoy the course!

Hahahah, yeah man. I darted for the TW200 when I saw it in the line up. The tires are HUGE. It definitely a fantastic bike to learn on. However by the end of the 2nd day it felt like I was riding a block of wood.

All in all, I'm extremely greatful for taking my M1X at DC last year... having never even turned on a bike before that weekend in my life, it was a fantastic 'investment' in my skill and safety. Not to forget that since it was completed at a college, a portion of the fee is tax refundable!

Sign up... you won't be disapointed.

As long as they cover the wrist bone you should be okay.

If not, just grab some work gloves (with leather palms) at any local hardware store.

Best thing would be to bring them to the first night's class and ask the instructors there.

True, and that's what I was thinking. Work gloves should be fine. But I'll ask them if mine are ok and if not maybe the work gloves.

I can't wait to do the course, but what I'm really looking forward to in the M2 :)

Piece of cake, no worries. The only way you can fail that course is if 1) you get one wheel off the ground or 2) you drop the bike during the test. Other than that, they pretty much walk you through it. They show you the exercises before the test "officially" starts and they don't move on until everybody get its it right at least once.

Hey man I have a pair of older medium full leather gauntlet cloves I'll let you borrow if you want. You are talking about the course in Whitby right?

For me dropping the bike shouldn't be an issue, unless I have a brain fart moment, but for new petite riders, dropping a bike would be very easy to do.

Yea, Whitby. They said bring the gloves I have to Friday night's class and it they are not suitable I can bring some old work gloves. Although, driving in oversized work gloves isn't the best option.

You have a day and a half to drop the bike and not have it count against you. The only time you would fail if you drop the bike during the actual test.
I recall one girl who was killing it the whole weekend, never dropped the bike, did every exercise properly and at test time she had a panic moment and dropped the bike... sucks!

That exact same thing happened to someone in my class as well. It was quite painful to watch since I was next in line to start my test right after watching her drop the bike a few feet away in front of me. I had the chance to have a heart-to-heart chat with her afterwards and she said it was definitely nerves that overcame her. She was by far the strongest rider in our group and I'm pretty sure that she passed the retest with flying colours.
