Ducati Owners: How much do you spend on maintenance every year compared to the big 3?

I have an 07 Monster with 20000km on it.
At 12k I did the valves and belts at the Ottawa dealer, total cost was 900.
This spring I will do the 24k, should be about the same unless I need valves adjusted.
No more Ottawa dealer so I will have to bring my bike the MBP in Montreal. I rather bring it there though, this guy specializes in ducati
performance.

WAH, you did belt change at 12K???...i am under the impression (if my memory serves me correctly from the manual) that this is to be done at 24K or every 5 years...as for valves, meh, sometimes they need adjusting, sometimes not...depends on how you ride it...

It's every 24k or 2 years.

Mine either. I think they changed all the fluids though and that's why it was a little high.

Where do you get yours done?

Which one do you have?

I did mine at GP Bikes, and it's a Streetfighter. I change oil and filters myself as well by the way, but anything else and I take the bike to the shop, don't like working on bikes.

Going from a Ninja 250 (which you have apparently crashed once or twice) to a 1098 is... LOL

You're gonna die. Seriously. Get something more sensible like a Monster 696.

nah, out of the choice of bikes, i would say go with the 1098, albeit the 848 is a little lighter in weight and power (i am guessing power to weight is the same as the 1098, but don't trust my math), might also be lighter in insurance. the 749 is a georgeous bike and i would love to own one, just can't justify the maintenance requirements...that irks me...

Sushii will do just fine, 1098 is just slightly more torquey than his 250, he'll just have to be a bit more careful with the throttle. :D :D :D

I'll be sure to invite you to my funeral.

Yep it'll capture the 12 o'clock loop and/or highside, as well as the ambulance coming to get you :)

Only if you are comfortable changing the belts. The older bikes like the 749 are close to double the maintenance. Valve adjustments need to be done quite often.

You could always adjust the height on the 1098 with the adjuster.

My 749 had valves done at 19000km and the belts did them myself $140 for the belts and 2 hours time every 3 years
so not sure where your info is comming from, but inaccurate
