Ducati Owners: How much do you spend on maintenance every year compared to the big 3?

i think Op is trolling just my two cents...from 250 to this ......

Whats wrong with upgrading from a 250 to a duc? Some people start from a 600cc... Anyway, im probably going to go with a 600cc ss and then go to a duc as my final bike. Thanks for the information Scuba Steve

love the 749 <3

Yep, i personally think it looks much better than the 848 or 1098.

Duc owners can afford shop rate maintenance...gotta ask don't bother unless your willin and able to do wrenchin on your own.

In 2 years and 17 000 km's I have spent $400 for a regular service interval. And then everything else on top of that which is regular maintenance (oil, tires, brakes etc etc) which cost the same as on any other bike.

So from personal experience I would say it doesn't cost any more to own a Ducati as opposed to any other bike, but maybe I am one of the very few lucky ones that didn't end up spending too much to maintain the Duc, I don't know.

Exactly! And if you go to a two valver...you can do all the service work yourself and save a pile of cash. It's really simple stuff......So easy....a GTAM'r could do it.:p

Wish I had a pic of that Ferrari with Canadian Tire Motomaster SE tires on it right now!

What highside? Which two speeding tickets? And i'm still with statefarm btw...

woops make that a lowside

http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?120073-Lowsided

and here's a speeding ticket and another ticket (the second is likely to be dropped)
http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?151112-Just-got-two-tickets-today

dunno where the other speeding ticket is (didn't hear of him being caught twice)

I think there was another SVA in there that was unreported but I honestly don't care enough to look.

State farm has a 3 strikes policy (accidents + tickets), so if you get that insurance slip ticket dropped and you don't have another speeding ticket or report another crash you're safe...

I have an 07 Monster with 20000km on it.
At 12k I did the valves and belts at the Ottawa dealer, total cost was 900.
This spring I will do the 24k, should be about the same unless I need valves adjusted.
No more Ottawa dealer so I will have to bring my bike the MBP in Montreal. I rather bring it there though, this guy specializes in ducati
performance.

Yeah I think the reason why mine was so much cheaper is because the valves didn't need adjustment.

There is a simple answer to this assuming your going to the dealer for maintenance but it depends on the yearly mileage you put on. Let's face it the average Canadian doesn't put on a lot. If I make a guess 10,000KM or under.

Basically maintenance will be approximately $140.00 for an oil change give or take. I would do this every 5K to 8k, any more frequent than this is simply unnecessary with todays synthetic oil, this is simple to do yourself for probably a 3rd of that cost.

Valve check and belt change every 20k or 2 years and your looking at $700.00 - $900.00 at a dealer. Everything else would be about the same as any motorcycle.

So lets just say 2 oil changes a year and one large maintenance in the second year would be a good average I'd say.
