Hey all. Do you happen to have a old helmet that is doing nothing? Why not donate it?

My name is Matt and I am a volunteer at an organization called St. John Ambulances. We offer many first aid courses and other training to both public and professional organizations.

So why do we want your old helmet?

At St John's we offer a course called AMFR (Advance Medical First Responder). This course which is available to the public teaches many skills including helmet removal during a motorcycle collision use of automatic external defibrillator and many more (This course is recognized by the Paramedic Association of Canada). The reason I am here is I recently completed the course and found that the helmets we are using for training are starting to deteriorate and they date back to the 80's. Therefore I am seeking for any donations of your dropped helmets, or old helmets that we can use for training. We are not trying to make any profit, but trying to help educate the public better to deal with certain situations.

Please PM me if you are able donate your dropped, or old helmets. It be greatly appreciated.

I'll put up a note in my garage. I'll be retiring my passenger helmet after this season and it's all yours.

Probably the best cause to donate it to.

Thank you to all who have pm'd and to the GTAM community. I hope to see you around this riding season when it warm enough outside so I am not shaking more than the bike is.

Keep it safe and Keep it fun
Matt

I have an old helmet I can donate as well...

I have around 4 of them. PM me regarding how to get them to you.

4 of them??? assuming each typically lasts for 5 years ...this would mean you've been riding for 20 + years???

^ more than that, and I ride enough that 5 years doesn't pass before I want a new one ...

Race Rescue needs helmets and old leathers etc too.

^ yeah lets resources spread around better equipped to teach better prepared on the field. Sorry To all I haven't came by to grab the helmets. We are still very interested in obtaining them but I got to remember I need to still abide by rank so takes some time. But I guess this a way of putting it out there that there are organizations willing to take certain items for training.

Matt

Is there a place where riders can just drop them off for this organization? I feel as though this would be easier. Otherwise, I would just cut mine in half and throw them out.

Will your organization determine whether or not the helmet is "fit for use"?

I have one, maybe two that I could stand to part with. One is MINT and the other is questionably old (the visor isn't in the best of conditions, either)... I'll gladly bring it, but I wouldn't want to offend you with what might be considered "crap".
